You have a secret which could save your friends

It has been a two years since Elena has gone, four years since me and Stefan started dating and now a year since we all somehow drifted back to mystic falls. Well not all of us, Bonnie was away with Enzo somewhere, Caroline wasn't technically in mystic falls but in the suburbs outside with Ric and their twins. Matt was sheriff mystics falls. 

Me, well I had moved away for a while because I needed time away from this town. I went to New York and started an internship with Calvin Klein. Stefan came with me because he needed time away as well and thought Damon could use the space. I was loving it here, it was a a breath of fresh air that we both needed. We all needed.

But one day I was at work when i got a phone call, the icon said Ric so I excused myself an answered it 

"Hey, Ric whats up?"

"It's Damon" 

After that phone call me and Stefan know we had to go back. I told my boss that I had to go back for a while because of family issues and I didn't know when i could come back  so if there was any work I needed ding to send it to me. 

They loved me there so they offered me a full time job for when I would come back eventually.

So thats where we are now, I have been away a year and they have been sending me work. Damon needed us and I knew we wouldn't be back in New York anytime soon so I signed in my resignation and was phoning to say that.

Present time

"hey, you ok?" Stefan asks when i sit back down next to him after the phone call

"I will be, but he needs us" I say and we both turn to Damon walking in with Ric after spending the day at the grille

"Hello brother, my favourite Human" he says and he leans down and kisses my head. Me and Stefan looked up to Ric 

"he's a bit passed it" he says as he helps Damon into a seat then sits down next to us 

"just like old times" Stefan says and he rubs my shoulder slight 

"Except it isn't though Stefan, because Elena isn't here. And will never be again! and BON BON won't just kill herself so she can come back" Damon spits in a drunken rage

"hey you don't mean that!" I say and he sits down 

"what if I do ? hasn't bonnie always had a hero complex why not feed it to get her bestie back" he says and I stand up and kneel in front of it

"how would you feel if you were in her shoes ? that you could save your best friends life but never see her again? Look Damon you know we are all here for you and we all are hurting. But you can't keep blaming people or be stuck in the past. It's been two years. and believe me they have been fucking awful. But we need to move on, you need to move on. It's what she would've wanted" I say as I put my hands on his knees. 

Usually Damon would go off at anyone who spoke to him like that, or even touched him like that. But I was one of Damons closest friends along with Lena Ric and Stefan. I knew Elena longer than Caroline and Bonnie, we were sisters. He knew how much I was hurting. He grabbed my hand and I could see he was trying to hold back tears. 

"I know, it's just so hard" I nod and stand up going to hug him but people come bursting in the door. We all turn to see Matt and Tyler come running into the lounge 

"Whats going on?" Stefan says standing up 

"The Mikaelsons are back, they're in town and they want blood" Tyler says and Damon stands up
