Chapter 22

Previously on "The Lawyer":

I waited for my parents outside the cafe patiently, and they showed up minutes later in their car.

I quickly got in and gave them directions to my home.

The10 minutes it took to arrive at my apartment building felt like mere seconds.

We made our way into the building, up the stairs and onto my floor. I opened the door and the moment I was dreading was finally here.

Now on "The Lawyer":

Bree's P.O.V:

I led my parents to the living room, motioning for them to sit on the couch.

B:" Do you guys want anything to drink?"

My dad replied with a no, while my mom still had that blanke look on her face.

B:"Okay, excuse me for a sec".

I entered the kitchen and grabbed a bottle of water. After taking a sip, i started chanting encouraging words to myself.

B:" You can do it Bree! It's just your incredibly weird parents, you've got nothing to worry about!"

I entered the living room again and took a seat on the sofa opposite my parents.

B:" So, what did you want to talk to me about?"

Dad smiled at me softly.

BD:" We wanted to apologize-"

Mom threw a sharp look at my dad and interrupted him.

BM:" You wanted to apologize, I'm not sorry for anything."

Dad looked at mom and gave her a "seriously" look then sighed.

BD:" Right, I wanted to apologize for not coming to your wedding when you invited us. It's been two years and we've barely spoken and I miss my little girl."

B:" Honestly Dad, I'm the one who's sorry.
I should have listened to you guys when you told me Chris wasn't a good man."

Dad looked at me with a worried expression.

BD:" What do you mean? What happened?"

Mom looked at me with a happy glint in her eyes.

BM:" Yeah? What happened?"

B:" I divorced him a couple of months ago..."

Mom jumped up from her spot on the couch.

BM:" Thank god! I hated that bastard!"

Dad looked at me relieved and chuckled a little at my mom's reaction.

BD:" I think you know what our opinions of him where."

I chuckled a little myself then laughed softly.

B:" Yeah, yeah i know."
