Chapter 14—Fucktard

{ l u k e }

          “You’ve been so freakishly happy lately—it’s scary.”

          I snorted, rolling my eyes as I shot Michael a look. “What? I can’t be happy?” I questioned in amusement, raising an eyebrow.

          He shrugged, a grin making its way on to his lips. We were both in his bedroom, mindlessly strumming on our guitars as we thought of random tunes to play. If there was one thing Michael and I bonded over—besides Fifa—it was playing the guitar.

          “Of course you can be happy,” he said, chuckling slightly as his light green eyes met my blue ones. “It’s just I haven’t seen you this happy with a girl in a long ass time.”

          Subconsciously, a smile made its way on to my lips at the thought of the said girl. My date with Autumn two nights ago had gone perfectly, and I honestly had so much fun. She was ridiculously adorable throughout the whole night, and our playful banter went along all night, which was something I actually enjoyed.

          She was fucking adorable.

          “Dear God—you’re thinking about Autumn again, aren’t you?” Michael’s voice snapped me out of my thoughts, making me look up from my guitar to look at him. “You were smiling all creepy like.”

          I laughed, shaking my head. “Fuck off,” I stated.

          He laughed as well while he continued to strum. “So what now? Are you gonna ask her to be your girlfriend or what?”

          I shrugged, picking up my guitar and gently resting on the floor next to me before leaning back against the bed. “I mean, I definitely want her to be my girlfriend,” I said, because that was true. I want nothing more than be able to call Autumn my girlfriend, because I liked her so damn much. I didn’t realize how much I exactly liked her, and at first it scared me, but now I was ready to act on it.

          “I think you should,” Michael shrugged, glancing up at me from his guitar. “You two went from, like, hating each other to smiling at the mere mention of each other.”

          I couldn’t help but grin, nodding as I agreed with him. It was true. From meeting Autumn a couple of months ago—which really seemed like years ago—we had gone from not being able to stand each other, and now here we were—wanting nothing more than to kiss the life out of one another. Granted, the hating thing radiated off of Autumn more than it did me, but I was more than glad that she didn’t feel that way about me anymore, and returned the feelings I had for her.

          “I will,” I finally answered, nodding once. “But I wanna take her out a couple times more, y’know?” I asked, bringing my knees up to my chest as I wrapped my arms around them; holding my left wrist with my right hand to keep my arms in place. “I don’t wanna jump right into it.”

          “I think that’s a good idea,” Michael replied. “Don’t rush into things, yeah, I get that.” I hummed in agreement as he stood up. “I’m gonna grab a drink. Want anything?”

          “Nah, I’m good,” I replied with a shake of my head, feeling my phone buzz in my jeans pocket as he walked out of his room. Pulling my phone out, I couldn’t help but grin as I got a text from Autumn.
