She looks in the mirror.
Sees a soul trapped inside
a body.
A body touched by people
she’d rather forget.
And people
she never wants to lose,
but doesn’t get to see.
A body that’s been deemed
a wasteland,
barren and riddled with
insecurities and illness.
A body with a population
of a ghost town;
and versions of herself
drink moonshine
at the bar.
She looks in the mirror,
and blinks once,
sheds a tear,
touches everywhere it hurts...
and leaves
