Exceptionally Different

Chapter 12

I run as fast as I can through the empty building. I guess all that running as a kid came in handy. 

As I run my mind goes haywire. Like it's disfunctioning and my focus and concentration are being disrupted. I hear the minds of  the mutants in the Underground all over. 

It's pure chaos.

It reminds me of when I first got the ability- What in the hell is happening?

I as I run with a paining headache I see Clarice.

"What are you doing here-" she says

I just whirl my hands around. I need her to catch me up. I look at her expectantly with an unfocused mind.

"Ummmmm...Long story short there's this mutant that messes up powers or whatever. It's John's old best friend and he's messing up the plan and I'm checking on the others."

I nod my head and run where she came from.

She calls out "Be careful"

I run and run till I get outside and see John on the ground trying to get through to a mutant, his height with blonde hair and gold lighted eyes.

Being this close to him hurts the fudge out of my head and I start sensing energies like crazy.

Not that power too.

Looking around I see some rocks and painfully pick a few up. Aiming I throw three at him.

They hit him in his forehead temporarily having him lose focus.

That's all I need. 

I quickly run up to him and before he can regroup feel my eyes light up and take him out. He slumps to the floor and I go to John. I give my hand out.

He looks at me with a lot of emotions then gets up without my hand.

"What are you- Let's go"

Rolling my eyes I follow but not before looking at the body of the best friend that's laying unconscious.

Hm.

We get to Marcos behind a car, he looks at us and says "Hey your bleeding- What are you doing here?"

John looks at me again before saying "It's a long story and I don't know about her but she helped. Look we have to get out of here-"

Marcos shakes his head saying "No no no. I'm not leaving." 

John tries to explain sternly "Sentinel Services is gonna have reinforcements coming in soon-"

"John, I'm not leaving without Lorna" he says with force

The bus windows bust out and the bus starts making sounds. 

Somebody yelled "The mutants got their powers back" and now they all look like they are getting ready to kill.

John says "Come on" and we follow him running towards the bus.

As soon as we get there, the bus door flies off. Lorna and Reid come out. The soldiers start shooting bullets but Lorna flings them back. Then she stands and pulls all of there weapons away from them.

John says "Looks like she's doing just fine without you." while looking at Marcos.

The soldiers start running away and hiding behind vehicles that are further back.

Lorna jumps onto Marcos and they start having their reunion or whatever. John helps Reid. A car comes out of nowhere and I assume that's for us. As we get in, the husband and wife start to have their reunion while I have a gut feeling something else is coming.
