Caroline Preston is God's gift to humanity, and no one can convince me otherwise. She exists and walks among mere mortals and sinners alike because everyone, and I fucking mean everyone, needs someone like her in their life.

As pretty and as delicate as a lily, her true strength lies in her undaunted heart, reciprocating hate with understanding, kindness, and, sometimes, even love.

So naturally, I, being a fucking prick, resort to hating her. I mean, why wouldn't I? She's my exact opposite, the embodiment of everything I am not.

Callie is kind, and I'm angry.

Callie is good, and I'm wicked.

Callie is pure, and I'm corrupt.

Callie is perfect, and I'm broken.

The stark difference between us doesn't stop me from coveting her, though. Underneath my cruel remarks and my furious glares is a longing I refuse to act on because she is obviously too good for me, and I am all things bad for her.

Lest a tortured soul ruin a beautiful soul.
