This made me feel a little uncomfortable, and I mentioned it to Tim.

He assured me it absolutely wasn't because they were trying to figure out whether I was a girl, or a boy dressed like one, which is what I was afraid of, but rather he explained it was because they found me to be a cutie.

After he told me that, their glances no longer made me nervous. Instead, it began to boost my confidence.

Just as my confidence level was rising, Tim made a joke that could have brought me back down, "You do realize that when a guy does that, he taking mental photos and filing them away for later?"

"Oh, I se----," then it hit me what he was hinting at. "Eeeeewwwww. I don't want that."  I shivered in disgust at the thought. "So you're saying the mental video he takes while checking me out now, will translate into a wet stain in his undies later, kinda like the ones I'm always finding in your on laundry day?"

"Oops," was all he could say.

After a couple moments I added with a chuckle, "It's quite funny, now that I think about it. Some boy will be fantasizing  later about doing things to that little hottie he saw at the carnival, totally unaware that he's stroking it to a biological boy."

Tim and I both had a good hardy laugh over that.

When we were done with our spicy, sweet, and definitely different, yet suprisingly delicious corn dogs, Tim offered to buy snow cones.

I didn't even ask for one, but he said he wanted to do that for me, because he knew snow cones were my favorite treat and tonight was all about me and making sure I was treated to a good time.

I told him he didn't have to, but he insisted. He also told me that buying a girl what she likes, just because he knows she likes it, was something guys liked to do for their date and that I should get used to it.

Did he really think I was gonna go on another date with another guy? That's not happening. This is a one-and-done.

However, during this experience, I was excited and wanted to enjoy everything at the carnival; the ferris wheel, double ferris wheel, enterprise, spider, drop tower, zipper, bumper cars, slingshot, daredevil circus, clowns, pig races, magician, and everything else. Well, everything except the haunted house, that was the one and only thing I didn't want to do.

We purchased a wristband and of course, knowing how much I hated haunted houses, that was the first thing Tim suggested we do.

I really, really didn't want to do it, but I knew since he was the one paying for everything, the least I could do was give him this one thing. I knew haunted houses were Tim's favorite.

Could we be more opposite of each other?

The attendant scanned our wristband, then we cautiously stepped through the door and into the darkness. At the same time, Tim took hold of my hand, leaned towards me and said, "Don't worry, I won't let anything get ya."

By the time we exited the attraction I realized just how much less scary it was in there having someone by my side to hold on to, someone who genuinely wanted to protect me. It felt nice.

I began to wonder if this was how girls felt having a boy by their side, or was it just me?

When we were standing in line for the bumper cars, this guy behind us kept trying to talk to me. Tim saw how uncomfortable it was making me, so he gave the guy a look that said, back off.

The guy continued trying to talk to me, so Tim reached out and took my hand, interlacing his fingers with mine. You would have thought this would have definitely given the guy a hint.

He got quiet for a few moment and I thought it had worked, but no, he continued hitting on me, so Tim glared at the guy and leaned in, giving me a sweet, soft, lingering peck on the cheek.

Finally, that worked. He didn't say anything else to me while we stood in line.

The cheek kiss also took me by surprise. I felt flush, and got quiet afterwards. Like I said, it was a lingering peck. At the moment I thought maybe it lasted a little too long, but  I couldn't say I wouldn't have enjoyed it, had it but been my brother.

It made me feel jittery inside.

I had a blast on the bumper cars, but the entire time I continued to think about that peck on the cheek. The thought crossed my mind again that it was too bad it was my brother that did it.

Wait, did that mean I was okay with boys showing an interest in me as long as they weren't my brother? I wasn't sure, but I did know it didn't creep me out like I thought it should have. It actually felt nice.

After the bumper cars, Tim led us over to a lady in a gypsy-looking outfit, standing next to a large old red wooden wagon with ornate, mystical drawings on the sides and a sign that advertised, "Madam Keezia's Emporium and Mystical Mind Reading. Future Seen, and Fortunes Told."

As we approached the wagon, which reminded me of something you might have seen traveling from town to town across the old west selling snake-oil miracle cure medicines, we could hear crackly, static-y, gypsy-like music coming from an old victrola phonograph player.

To my surprise, Tim walked up and purchased an LED lighted, long steamed rose from the lady,  which he then handed to me.

Did I mention that I have never been on a real date before, ever? I did hang out half the day on a Saturday with this girl Shelby Lynn, once, and it was really awkward, but this, everything I was experiencing tonight was working to make me feel really special.

I took the rose with both hands and Madam Keezia smiled at us. She then asked if she could give "the happy couple" a fortune reading, for the "low, low price of only $15."

Realizing that was just half of what the price on the sign was, Tim grinned, looked at me,  and said, "sure, but not me, you can read her's."
