Chloe: Of course I use my personal experience as inspiration. That's what gives authenticity to the feelings the characters go through and make them more relevant to the reader? I mean, strictly speaking, all characters are made up. But I include small things I'm familiar with into the story. For example, the main character's best friend is a mixture of some of my friends, certain events are events I or people I know have gone through.
