Chapter 7: Can I Decapitate Him First?

Start from the beginning

"Sounds like a fair agreement," Shawn agreed.

"Okay but how do we do this?" Austin asked. "Divide ourselves?"

"I'm with Tess," Liam said quickly, walking to her side. "She's good at everything."

Tess just chuckled.

"Same!" Renée interjected.

Liam cocked an eyebrow. "Are you here for Tess or for me?"

"Flirt with me one more time Liam and I will drown you," she threatened.

"Feisty," Liam joked.

"This can't be fair, it's going to be five against four," Jacob remarked after we were done."

"Five against three you mean," I chuckled. "We have Jessica."

"Hey," she protested.

"Am I wrong?" I asked her.

She sighed. "You are in every way right."

"So cry me a river," Liam said. "Life isn't fair."

Shawn rolled his eyes. "You clearly have an advantage mate."

Liam only shrugged and got into the boat.

Jacob, Jessica, Shawn and I got into the other one and soon we were out on the lake.

"This is taking forever," Jessica said.

"Patience Jess," Jacob chuckled.

I sighed and looked back at the shore.

"Ehem?"

I turned to see Shawn sitting by me. I hadn't spoken to him much ever since I yelled at him to mind his business the other night.

"What do you want now?" I asked.

"To say I'm sorry," he answered, to my surprise. "I pushed, and you pushed back. I don't mean to put you on the spot like that."

I sighed. "I know you mean well, but seriously, stop treating me like I'm fragile. I can handle my shit."

He chuckled. "If that's what you say, then okay."

"Oh my God," Jess squealed in excitement. "I think I've got one!"

We both looked over at her, seeing that something was tugging at her line.

"Okay, just let it sit for a couple of seconds," Jacob coached.

"Okay," she said.

"Now reel it in," he told her.

She did just that, a grin plastered on her face. She struggled with it, but pulled it out eventually.

"Would you look at that," Jacob laughed. "That's a big one."

I smiled as he high-fived her. "Guess I was wrong."

"See this people?" Shawn yelled over to those on the other boat.

Liam's jaw dropped. "How the hell did you catch one that size?"

"Doesn't matter, we still have more," Khalan said, holding up the bucket of trout they had.

"I think this monster outweighs all of that Princess," Shawn said.

"Shall we get back to shore now?" Jacob laughed.

"Shut up," Austin said, turning the boat around anyway.

"First one to reach shore?" Liam proposed.

"I think we've had enough competition for the day," Tess said.

I shook my head and fell back onto the seat, waiting for Jacob to take us back.
