"Mere parents ke ghar par ek choti si gathering hai. Tayyar rehna main tumhe pick kar lunga.
There's a small gathering at my parent's house tonight, Be ready. I'll pick you up at nine."

I nodded. He was staring at me. I know my silence is getting in his nerves.

"Hooriya enough is enough. tumhara kab tak ye mon vrat chalega?
When will be your silent treatment end?"

"Kyu? Aap ko to aisi hi biwi chahiye thi na jo aap ki har baat mein haan se haan milaye aur aap kuch bhi karein aap ko question na kare.
Why? Don't you want the wife who would say yes to you on everything and you will do however you please."

I didn't look up at him. I know he will be furious by my comment.

His gaze burning a whole inside me. He just stood up then went out of the apartment.

"Tumhara koi career interest hai?
Do you have any career interest?" I looked at Shehriyar, for half and an hour, whenever anyone asks me something first, I look at him then answer and when I couldn't answer he answers for me.

"I have studied interior designing."

"Aur tumne aage try nahi kiya? Like Internship wagehra karne ka? Hamari company mein bhi to empty vacancies haina?
And you have not tried further. Like taking an internship. Our company have vacancies. Right?" Shehriya's mother asked me, looking at Shehriyar.

My hearbeat fastened. Whenever something related to that incident came up I really got nervous. My eyes met Shehriyar's, who was resting back on the chair and now put his elbows on the table to answer. He understood what was I thinking. "Maine mana kara usko.
I didn't want her to."

An awkward silence filled the room.

"Shehriyar, humein nahi pata tha ke tum itne conservative ho.
We didn't know you were that conservative." Arisha's mother said in a mocking tone. "Agar wo kaam karke independent hona chahe to wo uski choice hogi.
If she wants to make her career, and wants to be independent then it will be her own choice."

If I knew earlier she and her family are going to be here then I would never come, neither Shehriyar seemed to know about it.

Shehriyar stared at her. If looks could kill.

"Yes. Mujhe pata tha aisa zarur kuch hoga. I am so excited.
I knew something like that must happen. I am so excited." Aiby bhaiyya whispered in my ear. I watched him in disbelief.

"Meri biwi hai wo. Meri marzi chahe usko kaam karne du ya ghar par bethau. It's none of your business.
She is my wife. It's my choice, Either I make her set her career or make her sit at home. It's none of your business."

Arisha's mother's mouth dropped open. I was also offended by his words because he sounds like I have no right on my life anymore.

"Shehriyar." His father warned.

"Mind your language Shehriyar." Shehriyar's mother scoffed, then Arisha's mother stood up stomp her feet and stormed out of the dining area. Shehriyar mother followed after her, calling her name.

If Aman bhaiya would not be with me right now, then this situation would not be amusing for me.

Arisha's father laughed loudly. "Choro usey, ye to aisi hi hai. Tum batao Hooriya beta tumhari family mein kon kon hai aur?
Leave her, She is like that. Hooriya beta, you tell, Who else is in your family?"

I forced a small smile, "Just my mother aur meri ek behen, wo married hai aur london mein rehti hai.
Just my mother and a sister, she is married and she lives in London."
