"Mamu, (uncle,)" I reached in front of him and put my hands on my hips. "Apne bete ko samjhalo. make understand your son."

"Hooriya!" his eyebrows furrowed in confusion. He tilted his head to see Haidar standing there, all ready to run.

"Haidar!" Uncle shouted and he stopped on his tracks but didn't turn. "Haidar!!" He shouted again but this time more authoritatively, left no room for Haidar to ran. Haidar tiredly came to stand beside me.

Now, my fury was calmed, it's like I passed it on Hannan uncle.

"Raat bhar kahan the tum? Where had you spend the night?" We both kept silent.

"Mujhe dobara puchna padega? Do I need to repeat myself?"

"Ek dost ke ghar. A friend's home."

"Konse dost? Which friend?"

"k-Kabir"

"Kya karta hai wo? What does he do?"

Haidar didn't answer, Hannan uncle turned his head towards me and asked in a flat tone "Tum kya keh rahin thi? What were you saying?" I kept silent. I know, if I opened my mouth Haidar would be in trouble and I can't be like him, who always put me into trouble. Sometimes I hated myself for not hurting people the way they hurt me. "Hooriya?" He asked.

"Kuch nahi, main to bas aise hi...N-nothing, I was just saying like that." I rapidly think about another topic to talk so I could distract him. He gave me a questioning look, leaving no room for me to escape. I glanced at Haidar, expecting him to make up a story.

"Use mat dekho, mujhe dekho or batao. Don't look at him, look at me and tell."

"Actually mamu...." I don't know what occurred to me then tears slipped down my face.

"Hooriya, kya hua beta acha nahi batana to nahi batao. Ro to nahi. Hooriya what happened daughter okay if you don't want to tell then don't. At least don't cry.

"Haidar pani lao iske liyye. Haidar bring water."

I couldn't look up at Haidar in embarrassment. I know he would make fun of me later. Haidar bring water for me and I just took a slip.

"kya kiya hai tune? What did you do?"

"Kuch bhi to nahi. Nothing." He answered, scared.

"Bata raha hai yaa... Are you telling me or..." He raised his hand but stopped "Itna bada ghoda ho gaya, oont patang harkatein karta phirta hai ab bhi. Or tu ghar mein kese ghusa tujhe to maine bahar nikal diya tha na raat ko. He has become such a big horse, still doing ridiculous actions. And how did you enter the house, I had thrown you out at night?"

"Wo main isko chodne aaya tha. I've come to drop her."

"To baahar se chodkar nahi jaa sakta tha? Aaya hoga apni maa se paise mangne. So couldn't you leave from outside? Surely you have come to ask money from your mother."

Suddenly, Mamu put off his sleepers and started beating Haidar. "Nikal jao. Maine tumhe andar aane ki ijazat nahin di. Get out. I didn't allow you to be in."

I pursed my lips to suppress my laugh and succeed in it. I know that the situation wasn't appropriate for laughing but I couldn't help.

**

I called him, hoping he would receive this time but he didn't.

"Choro Hoori, ye Haidar ka Roz ka hai. Leave it Hoori, it is Haidar's every day's drama." Manha said rolling her eyes. She came with my mother just after all of that drama and grateful that no one witnessed that because aunt and grandmother went shopping at that time.
