I Killed Her

"I don't understand Parker... What do you mean?"

"I mean I killed my mom.

The police looked down at his file, "Parker, you didn't kill your mother, she was shot in a mugging by a local gang."

"I know but we were at the restaurant and I had left my phone in the car, I was being stubborn and asked her if she could go and get it. She went to go get it and then never came back. If I had just gone and got it myself then--"

"Then nothing. She died by accident, not by your hand."

Parker walked out of the police station and hour later after giving his statement. He went to the restaurant and walked down by where his mother was killed. The gang approached him and he threw the first punch.

By the end of it he was a bloody mess on the pavement but he would be fine.

Despite the beating he smiled knowing he at least tried.
