Chapter Thirty-One

Start from the beginning

Niall snorts.

“Nice try” he says.

Paul shuts the van door.

“We just have to get Harry” he tells us, as he slides into his own seat.

Jonas starts the engine, and we pull out into the street; no going back now.

“What's going on with you and Callin?” Paul asks.

I glance at her.

She flushes bright red and ducks her head.

“Rough, passionate-” Zayn starts to say.

“Nothing” I say, interrupting him.

“Obviously something” Paul says. “I need to know what. Especially if you intend to reveal it today.”

“Kissing” Liam says. “I think that's it.”

“That's it” Callin and I say at the same time.

Paul shakes his head slowly and sadly, but he's grinning.

“Liam thought you'd forbid it” I add, earning a glare from Liam.

“I don't mind” Paul says. “You're showing that you'll recover from what happened. That out of something horrible, something good can come as well.”

“I don't think I'm allowed to be that poetic” I mumble. “That's Liam's job.”

“Can today not be 'throw-Liam-under-the-bus' day?” Liam asks.

“I've waited all year!” I protest.

Liam rolls his eyes, but he's still grinning.

This almost feels normal.

Callin

When we pull up outside the studio, I recognise it.

It's the place where this all started.

Where I got shot.

There's a crowd outside, fans of One Direction.

I glance at Louis, to see his pale face and wide eyes.

I grab his hand.

We're safe.

I just have to keep telling myself that.
