Newt and I had been sitting by the tree for quite some time, and only a few minutes ago had I noticed that Newt had fallen asleep.

I looked up from his shoulder towards the Maze, and saw Minho and Thomas walking out. Excited to greet them, I got up and jogged their way.

Yet, before I could reach them a loud sound, almost like a horn, came from the glades center.

Everyone looked confused and began running towards the box.

I ran as well and met Gally on the way.

"What's happening?!" - I had to speak over the noise.

"The box is arriving!"

He answered me quickly and ran ahead of me.

Has it already been a month? That doesn't make sense, I'm sure I've only been here a little over three weeks.

Within seconds we had all surrounded the box and Gally opened the big metal doors with ease.

It felt like all of us shared the same body as we all gasped at the same time.

At the bottom of the box laid another girl. Passed out.

She was absolutely gorgeous.

Newt jumped down next to her and found a note in her hand.

"She's the last one, ever." - He looked up confused.

"The hell does that mean?"

∼ 30 minutes later ∼

"Hey, stop that!" - Gally and some of the other gladers yelled at the girl, who had climbed up in one of the wooden 'towers'.

She threw rocks and all kinds of other things at them, including her shoes.

Back in the box she had woken up while we all pondered the meaning of the note.

Scared out of her mind, she pushed Newt away and had climbed out of the box.

Of course, I understood her reaction. But even I didn't throw my shoes at them. That would simply just have been savage.

I stood a few meters away, observing the chaos unfold.

How can she keep throwing things? Where did she get all of those rocks?..

Besides pondering about her aggressive reaction after waking up, there was another thing that bothered me.

As she had laid in the box, half conscious, she had several times whispered "Thomas."

Most, if not all, of us heard it.

Does she... know him?...

While I was thinking, I saw Thomas join the ruckus.

"Hey it's me! It's Thomas!" - As soon as he yelled that, the rocks stopped falling.

What?!.. She stopped?!

Quickly, I jogged over as well.

Thomas was already halfway up the ladder when I got there.

"Thomas, I don't think..." - "Don't worry, it's okay" - I tried arguing, but Thomas interrupted me and continued climbing.

"I'll bet my lunch on him getting beat up by the greenie" - I heard Minho, as he walked up next to me.

"Nah, Thomas would take her" - Chuck appeared on my other side and joined Minho's discussion.

They continued arguing around me, but I stopped listening.

I can't hear them. They have to be talking...

My eyes searched the top of the tower, hoping it could give me an idea of what was going on.

Several minutes passed and there was still no sign of the girl or Thomas.

The other gladers had left, leaving only me and Chuck.

"I don't care what Minho says. I still think Thomas would take her" - I couldn't help but chuckle at Chucks comment.

"That depends... you think she got any more rocks?" - I gave him a nudge with my elbow after my proposal.

"Maybe she has infinite" - Chuck and I both giggled.

A few more minutes passed before Chuck lost his patience.

"I'm gonna go and see what Minho's doing" - He said before running off.

I should leave too. Me standing here on my own seems weird.

My eyes sneaked one final peek at the wooden tower's top, before I took my leave as well.

I decided to walk over to the med-jack hut and check on Alby.

The hut was small and quite warm inside.

"Hey, how's he doing?" - Winston asked, sitting on a stool next to the bed.

"Not sure, he's been like this ever since you all got back." - He gestured to Alby as he answered.

Alby laid wrapped in a thin, woolen blanket. His head was covered in sweat as he took short, quick, breaths. The bed he laid on was the only one in the glade, since everyone else slept in hammocks. I had asked Gally one time why that was, and he explained how making proper beds was difficult and took many more resources than the hammocks. Therefore, only the med-jack hut had a proper bed.

"A part of me don't want him to wake up..." - I looked over at Winston, surprised by his sudden comment.

"Why?"

"Because he was stung. He's gonna go crazy and sooner or later he'll have to be banished..."

- Winston placed his head in his hands, looking down at the ground.

Understanding his despair, I walked over and placed a hand on his shoulder.

Alby was their leader. The one they all relied on, me included. With him gone the responsibility would go to Newt. However, no matter how amazing a leader I know Newt would be, the other Gladers hope would thin out after loosing Alby. No doubt about it.
