Janae Iyana Taylor

The sound of R&B music playing loudly. I turned onto my side and rubbed my eyes, yawning in the process. When I sat up I realized I wasn't laying the on the beans bag chairs, I was laying in the guest room bed. Must've been my dad.
I got up and slipped on my shoes that were on the floor. I was still dressed in the same clothes, looking like yesterday.
It was about 8 something and I had a 12 o'clock class today so I had to go back to my dorm and get ready.

I left out the room and went downstairs to the kitchen. Mom was making breakfast and my dad was sitting at the table, looking at the newspapers.

"Mornin'." I hugged them both.

"Goodmorning." They both replied.

I sat at the chair near the island counter. "What's on the menu Ma?"

She sat down some plates on the table and one in front of me.

"French toast sticks and eggs. I cooked a large meal last night so I had to make something small for breakfast....Ain't finna be working me to death." I laughed as my dad cut his eye at her.

"Okay. That's cool." I shrugged, still giggling. She fixed the plates and we all began to eat.

Sadly. The first spoonful of eggs made me sick. I tried to keep it down with all my might, but there was no use. I sat the fork down and rushed to the bathroom.

"Janae?" I heard my mama call after me.

I shut the bathroom door and locked it. I leaned over the toilet and began throwing up. When I finished I grabbed a towel from the basket and wiped my face and I brushed my teeth. Putting. my hands on the sink, I stabled myself and tried to get myself together.

"Janae?l My mama knocked on the door. I looked at my self in the mirror before I opened it and she came inside.

"You okay?" She put her hand on my forehead, thinking I was running a fever or something. I swatted it away.

"I'm fine." I tried to go pass her. But she stopped me. Closing the door. She looked at me with her arms folded.

"Zay told me that me and you needed to have a serious talk. He looked a little upset when we talked last night. So what's the problem?"

I rolled my eyes. "I'm not crazy Ma. I know he told you. He can't hold water."

She sighed before pulling me into a hug. "We are going to have a long and serious talk after breakfast. WITH your father. And I will definitely be chewing you out later on. But imma let your father go first."

"Mama no—"

"Nae. You might as well get it over with now. If he's upset, I'll talk to him." She reassured me with a smile.

"Can it wait till after my classes?" I groaned.

"Nope, sooner the better. Now, c'mon and eat something. Even though you threw up, you and the baby needs to eat." She patted my shoulder before leading me out the bathroom.
I felt a pound of weight being lifted off my shoulders. 1 down, 2 to go.
I sat back in my seat and poked around at my food.

"You alright princess?" Dad asked me, looking up from his plate. I nodded my head and he went back to eating. Me and my mom made eye contact before I went back to eating my french toast sticks. Avoiding the eggs.
When we finished I helped my mama load the dishes into the dishwasher while my dad went into the living room, watching something on tv.
While she messed with the dishwasher I tried to sneak upstairs to avoid the conversation with her and my dad. There was no way it would end in sunshine and rainbows.
