Over the next two days, things were basically back to normal at school excluding the odd look here and there.

But that suddenly didn't matter anymore.

It was a Wednesday afternoon and (Y/n) was going to visit her father.

She had another dream about him the night before in anticipation. She was standing beside and train track and... it's pretty obvious what happened next.

As soon as she got home from school, (Y/n) changed out of her uniform and into some dark casual clothes.

(Y/n) tucked her phone and keys into her pocket but left everything else in her room. She went to the front door and called out that she was leaving for work.

"Okay, see you later!" Carmen's voice replied in a faint shout.

(Y/n) obviously didn't have a job and was just using that as an excuse to see Felix but her mother rarely actually asked about it and she was pretty easy to lie to anyway.

It was far more likely that Ronan would catch on if anything but he didn't care enough to look into it, he was always with Padgett as well as that.

Her heart always seemed to run quicker on the days when she'd see her father, her legs shaky as she walked to the bus stop.

She saw him quite often at this point but there was always a sense of occasion as she ran over what she was going to say while on the bus ride. She would recall what jokes she had made the last time she'd seen him and which ones made him laugh.

Everytime she said or did something that pleased him it was like a dopamine shot straight through her. Gushing pride would fill her up as he chuckled at an overthought comment of her's.

(Y/n) knew the path to his home like the back of her hand when she got off the bus. It was in quite a secluded area and it would always take her a while to find it at first but now she could get herself there with her eyes shut.

A thirty minute walk filled with endless twists and turns, taking her off piste into the town's neighbouring woods finally led her to the her father's house.

It wasn't as ostentatious from the outside as the home Gianni and his family lived in but it certainly made up for that with the interior.

It was large too, possibly bigger than the Carro's. Everytime (Y/n) came she felt like she was walking through a bomb site in the massive hall but it was really just the aftermath of one of Felix's parties.

Surprisingly, the security on the place wasn't through the roof. The only thing keeping people out was a locked door and that was often open when a party was taking place which happened almost every night. There was really no need for security cameras and passwords since it was so isolated.

Police knew where he was but money talks better than anything and kept them off his back. Rivalling mobs didn't interfere for fear of a counterattack. No one could really stumble on the house unless they already knew where to look.

Once she reached the front door, a light tap was all it took to send the door open. (Y/n) rolled her eyes, she would have to remind Felix to lock up.

Something she hated about seeing her dad was all the other people. They didn't speak to her but he always seemed to have at least twenty others milling around the house.

There was an informal game of poker taking place with the players sitting on the floor of the lobby all looking terribly hungover even though it was around six in the evening at this point and a new party would be starting up in four hours.
