I heard my passenger door open, and I looked over to be met with my brother's smiling face. I turned my music down so I could talk to him, "Hey, Matt." His smile grew when he heard my nickname for him.

"Hey, Mal! How was your day?" He asked, and I couldn't help but smile back.

"Get in and I'll tell you. We can go on a ride if you want." I offered, and he took it. He climbed in and buckled up before he shut the door. He always did that.

"Ride where?" I looked away from him so I could pull out of our driveway without hitting anything.

"I don't know, where do you wanna go?" I hadn't thought about going anywhere but home today, so I wanted him to pick. Especially since he hadn't gone anywhere in a while.

"Can you pick up someone to ride around with us?" He asked, nearly begging. Even though he knew the answer already.

"Yeah, who? And where do I go to?"

"August." Was all he said, and I knew where to go. I also knew that if August was gonna hang out with us, his fiancé, Kasey Kelley, would too. So I was excited.

"Ok." I answered, turning down the road that lead towards Kelley's place. I was glad I'd asked Matt to hang out. It had been a while, and I really did... Miss him.

———————————————————————————

I was fucked up, and Matt was driving with August in the front while his fiancé and I got lit in the back. Kelley was smoking on the backwood he'd just rolled, and our favorite song was playing. He was singing along with it while both of us danced. He also had hair down to the middle of his back so every time that motherfucker moved, his hair bounced around more than he did. I was kind of captivated by that, because he looked a lot prettier than I remembered.

The song came to an end, and Kel handed me the second half of the blunt to finish off. I took it, and swapped it for the half-empty bottle of vodka I had been chugging for a while.

He took it and downed a quarter of it at least, and started laughing immediately after. I couldn't help but laugh with him right before I went to hit the blunt.

"I swear to God there's something wrong with you two." Matt said, looking back at us in the mirror all concerned.

"You're probably right." Kelley said, his words a bit slurred.

"Are you drinking more?" August asked, turning around to look at his fiancé who was now holding the second bottle of alcohol of that night.

"It's a weekend, baby. It don't even matter." That long haired fucker would be the death of me one day, I was sure. August said nothing back to him, and he turned back towards the road.

"Hey, Kel." I whisper-yelled at the drunk fool in front of me.

"Hey, Mal." He whisper-yelled back at me, sending both of us into a fit of laughter.

"You want a stick, fam?" I asked, making him laugh harder and nod his head. "Hey, Maverick!" I yelled at the driver, "Hand me my mints out of my console thing." I said, reaching my hand out and wiggling my fingers until he put the tin in my palm. I pulled it back and opened it, dumping out the contents of it into my hand. Kelley reached over and pulled 2 Xans out of them, and I did the same before I put the rest back up. We 'clinked' our sticks. I dry swallowed mine, and he washed his down with the vodka.

I saw August glaring at us, and Kase must have too. "Look, it'll all be fucking peachy, I swear. You gotta trust me, Gus." He slurred, making me snicker.
