Hamid POV

-------------------------------------

"Could you please pass me the curry?" I ask Shehry at the dining table during breakfast.

"Sure" he spoke, and passes me the bowl.

I was sure that I would not get food  here like my Aunty made, but I was largely mistaken. Specialy this potato curry, it had such an sensetional taste that I didn't want to stop eating.

" Here ,Hamid have some parath" Bhabi Aisha says ,coming out of the kitchen. She places a parath on my plate then takes her seat on the table next to Liybha.

"I think, you guys are trying to kill me."

"Nope, I am guessing Liybha will be the one to blame for your death, because she's the one who made the curry." Bhabi informs me; leaving me stunned.

I have tried my best not to diverte my attention to Liybha sitting opposite me, but I can not stop my eyes wandering towards her now. Her head is bent down ,but I can still see the faint streaks of red blooming on her cheeks.

"Well in that case I will gladly die." I say,  making Shery and Bhabi chuckle.

"Liybha, give me your kameez so I can give it to my tailor to get your clothes sewed" Aunty Humera speaks up, silencing the table.

She has never really liked me before and nothing has really changed now.  But I ignore her and her harsh words, because she is Shehry's mother.

Shehry left for work straight after breakfast and since I don't have anything better to do,I hit the bed.
......

The chirping ring on my cellphone wakes me up with a jolt. The caller id shows me it was Mark calling from University.  I picked it up immediately.

"Hello."

"Hey, Hamid I just wanted to let you know that you're apartment will be ready in two days." He informs me.

"Thanks, Mark for letting me know.",

"No problem mate, see you around.",

" Bye." , and with that I end the call.

My eye's are still begging for sleep ,so as I place my cellphone on the side table, it slams into my wallet.  Making it drop on the green carpet, due to which something gold and silver rolls out, disappearing under the bed.

This snaps my eyes open, I am not ready to lose my mother's ring. This is the only piece I have left of her. I lay down and mange to drag out the ring from under the bed.

As I sit back on the bed I quietly examine the ring, while fiddling with it between my fingers.  There are two golden hands clutching a heart in between.  A simple silver crown rests on top of the heart. My father had brought this claddagh ring back from Ireland during one of his trips.

He gave it to my mother ,as an anniversary gift and after that I had always seen it on my mother's hand.

I was eleven when my parents had passed away in a car crash and my dad's brother and wife took me under thier wings. They never made me feel like an orphan, I became a part of thier family and a brother to their two adorable daughters. I was fifteen when my uncle gave me my mother's ring,  it helps me keep things grounded.

I shove the ring back in my wallet and then place the wallet into the drawer.

I quickly change into a black v-neck
t-shirt and track pants to go for a run.

I am heading towards the main door, when some noises from the TV ,drew me towards the living room.

I stop at the door, leaning against the door frame and fold my arms to observe the situation.
