October 1966.

The Monkees debuted in September to startling success. The boys had no idea what to do with their newfound fame. I knew they would be sensational, but to this magnitude, I never would have guessed.

In September, I released my first record to critical acclaim. It was a shock when my first single soared to the top of the charts, but even more of a shock when people actually liked the album. In short, I had no idea what to do with my newfound fame, either.

Moments of bed jumping and sweet kisses and peals of laughter rang through my apartment. Billboards and flashes of lights and different cities. We were shimmering.

We were on top of the world.

Together.
