“What happened?” tanong nito nang mayakap siya pabalik.
“I... I thought....”
“I keep on telling you, I'm here. Hindi mo lang ako pinatatapos.”
Lumayo nang bahagya ang binata upang punasan ang mga luhang nanggagaling sa mga mata niya.
“Hush, baby. What happened?”
“We have to get out of here, Vince.” Tumingin-tingin pa siya sa paligid bago hinila si Vincent sa dulo, “Get me out of here.”
I know, it's them. Bakit nawala sila? Or they saw me? They have seen me. They're watching me. Or maybe, I am just overreacting. Am I? I didn't see their faces but I am certain that it is them. No, shit. I don't know, I don't what to think.
“S–Sure.”
“We're taking stairs.”
“Kaya mo? Baka makasama sa'yo kung—”
“Vince, just help me, okay? No more questions.”
Bumuntong hininga ang binata saka tumango.
“Just be yourself again, baby, please.”
Muling pinunasan ni Vince ang mga luha na tumutulo na naman sa pisngi niya. Ilang sandali pa silang nagkatitigan na nagpakabog ng dibdib niya. Those eyes staring at her, the eyes that once caught her. Hahalikan sana siya ng binata ngunit kusa itong tumigil.
“I'm sorry,” sabi nito bago siya hinila upang umalis.
Sa kabilang banda, galit na galit si Matthew kay Iris kung bakit pinigilan siya nitong sugurin si Vincent na siyang tumangay sa babaeng mahal niya.
“We can't just ran into them,” she scowled before calming herself. “I mean, it is Vincent that she is with. She hate any of us stepping into their shadows. Unless, it's necessary.”
“What do you mean stepping and necessary? Iris, she is fucking my woman and of course!!! It is necessary! That girl is mine — your twin is mine!”
His madness turned into sadness like he's about to cry. Iris remained standing in front of him, staring without emotions at all. Yes, she still has a grudge against these guys who broke her twin. Vincent was such a dick, Matt was an asshole, but she can see love. Nobody's perfect and she is flattered knowing that there is love.
Pero naiinis pa rin siya kasi ang bobo nila, tangina.
After a few moments of silence, she pulled out a deep breath and shook her head.
“You know what? We should call it a day. I don't think this would ever work—”
“What? You think, she already gave up on me? No, no....”
“Hey, shut it, will you?” She hit his arm lightly, “I did not say anything like that, you get it? It's just, you should give her time. I know my twin, she would never call for help to anybody when she thought everything was under her controll.”
“But I want her to be with me. I want to be with her....”
“Listen...,” she utters and he sigh as he wait for her to continue. “Mas magagalit lang siya sa'yo kung ipagpipilitan mo ang sarili mo sa kaniya ngayong nasasaktan pa siya nang sobra. Also, to remind you, we Fortalejos aren't that easy. I mean, Martina swore to never get married or in a serious relationship after Vince. If you get what I mean, like, duh?! You should!”
He looks away, “I... I get it. Fuck, I'm such an asshole!”
“I'm glad you know.” She rolled her eyes before continuing, “So, you should also get that your marriage meant a big step-down from her highest ground. That means you meant everything to her, Matthew. Gosh, if you only were thinking straight that day—”
“Iris, you should understand that what happened that day with that woman was—”
Her phone rang.
“Oh, save it, Matthew. Kay Martina ka kailangang magpaliwanag.”
Vincent's POV
“Are you sure about this? Do you really want to do this?”
She sigh, “Y–Yes, I am sure.”
“As you say it, I'll obey it.”
Anything for you, baby.
I wish I had the guts to call her mine again. I wanna tell her how much I love her. If I could only turn back time and tell her the truth about all the things that's happening all throughout her life... which is I can't.
Oh, that woman! Urgh, she's a big disaster. She ruined everything. She ruined me! She broke me. And that Matthew Mondragon! I hate how he get what I want. I hate how he got the hearts of the women I have ever loved and love! I am so mad, I am furious about everything that is happening that I could even swallow a person alive! Great, so crazy. I'll fix this. I'll make it up to her, I swear. I'll make her mine.
For now, this is the lease that I could do for Martina. I'll cherish the day that she choose to be with me... these days with her.
