Chapter Six

Fuck

Fuck

Fuck

Fuck

What the hell was wrong with me?! I just got pissy with a guy who KILLED a woman last night. Why have I not called the police?

Stupid girl, you know why, you haven't called because you know that whatever is happening isn't a human matter, you know that the woman wasn't human either, and you know that yo...

SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP, JUST SHUT UP I screamed inside my head, I could not deal with all of this right now. A week ago life was normal, shit but completely normal, now... I don't even want to imagine what is happening, who these creepy teenagers are and why they keep looking at me like I'm a piece of meat to be had.

I sped walked through the dreary halls, painted a 'happy' yellow, with hard oak flooring that had been finished a dark brown, Posters teamed the walls saying things like 'Chlamydia screenings, get a free cinema ticket', no problem there for me, I was probably one of the rarities of my age, a virgin.

I finally reached an exit which led out to the college quad, full of picnic benches and trees. I assume it is meant to look soothing. I almost ran to the nearest bench and collapsed onto it, my head falling in-between my knees.

  don't worry  Elizabeth, It's natural

I needed to forget about last night, forget about that phsycho boy and the mental tall girl. I needed to stop thinking about what was happening to me. The blood lust. Why do I want it?

  Just have a bite!

I swallowed hard, and began to examine my timetable. I had almost a whole day of doing nothing until last period, fantastic. I might as well go home if I have frees till twenty to three. I took a few deep breaths, grabbed my bag and pulled myself up.

'So what lessons do you have today?' I recognised the voice immediately, it caused my heart to pound, he terrified me.

'Go away' I said, looking up at the handsome boy with the piercing green eyes. I tried to push past him, but he was suddenly in the way. Before I could snatch it away he had grabbed my timetable from me and was already reading it.

'You have basically the same subjects as me' He stated smirking 'I don't have politics till last either'

 'Why would I care?'

'Well, you know what happened last night Elizabeth' he whispered suddenly serious 'We need to talk, i'm Lucern by the way'

'If you think I am going anywhere with you, you are sadly mistaken' I began to turn to walk away, forgetting my time table, I could always get another, when he grabbed my wrist and forced me around.

'If you think you are going anywhere without me before we have had a chance to talk, then you are sadly mistaken' he said, his face was inches from mine, he was glaring at me with a fierce intensity, my expression matched his.

'Fine' I conceded. I knew what he was capable of.

Oh you have no idea darling

---***---

We drove away from the college and into the city centre to get a cup of coffee, then went to a park which was pretty much deserted at this time. Oh lucky me, stuck in an empty park with a psycho killer.

  Is he really a killer

WHAT DO YOU MEAN IS HE REALLY A KILLER, I SAW HIM KILL THAT...WOMAN...WITH MY OWN EYES

We both know she wasn't an ordinary woman Elizabeth.

'Are you going to talk?' I asked exasperatedly, he was staring off into space, as soon as I spoke his head whipped round to look at me, as if only just realising that I was on the bench with him.

  'Give me a minute'

'I will give you nothing' I hissed 'I saw you kill that...woman, last night, I had cuts on my wrists and ankles'

'You merely saw the girl' he stated matter of factly 'you only heard me, and smelt the blood, if I recall you liked it'

  'I did not' I lied

'STOP!' He half shouted at me 'The more you lie, the harder it will be to tell you, you need to be truthful'

'OK, the smell made me' I struggled to find the right word 'Hungry'

He nodded and looked at me thoughtfully, I felt the wind whip around my face, yet the cold did not bother me, it was as if I could not really feel it, as if it didn't affect me.

'That woman, was a murderer Elizabeth, I killed her to protect our community' he whispered 'If I had known you were one of the Parker's, I never would've hurt you, believe me'

'What do you mean a murderer?'

'She kills our kind, she is jealous of our community here, the harmony and the diversity' he looked at me pleadingly, willing me to understand 'She wanted there to be one race of being, and she did not care how she made it happen'

'What do you mean by our kind?' I asked leaning closer, till our faces were inches apart, too anyone else we would have looked like lovers.

'That is something that you will have to figure out for yourself, but, you know already, you've known since your first night here' I looked away, he grabbed my face and turned it to face him 'You know what you are, what we all are, your'e just scared to admit it'

  Don't worry Elizabeth, It's natural
