Chapter 32: The R&R Tale (1)

Start from the beginning

"My mother Amore also died when I was very young. My brother Amoar was always the one that knew O'Tata the most and would teach me about his lessons, along with... well, everything he learned himself about life really including our mother. Amoar was a mix between my brother and my father since he resembled him the most with his soft spoken but powerful voice."

He smiled a bit, saddened.

"I suppose you could say the Amo spirit of Chiefs that I got from him allowed me to become closer to my father than I ever could in life, along with understanding everything about him completely."

"The way of 'Peaceful Defense' is what O'Tata would preach to all the tribes of our people. He said that it was the right way to follow. Back then, we weren't just fighting for survival against the primals and you humans that had those Optimer weapons, but we also had many civil wars amongst our divided tribes due to disagreements."

"In total we had seven tribes, with two of them being the strongest and having royal blood since the Ancient times. The Shanti tribe that my brother and I are from, and the Babatu tribe that our future wives Rasie and Banti belonged to. The Babatu tribe were both our fiercest rivals and our closest friends. Of course all the tribes we considered to be family, but truth be told, they were always the most special to us."

He shook his head a little with a minuscule chuckle since The Bright Banti from the Babatu tribe was always the one person that would challenge his authority when he became Chief with no fear or respect at all in the beginning. The woman that would become his wonderful Chieftess.

"Then the other tribes were the Asato, Doombo, Kan, Ndala and Zele tribes."

Renero's eyes flickered back onto Ramsis who was listening intently, showing clear interest.

"You are aware of the term 'Sumunye' yes?"

Ramsis furrowed his brows at the meaning of the term that he would have to provide context for when he presented his side of things.

"Yes. It means, 'we are one' in your tongue."

Renero nodded. "My father's lifelong mission was to achieve that. And so he laid the groundworks for me to take over and be that essential unifier for our people, having gained the love and respect of all the divided tribes with his unseen strength, kindness and care."

Narrowing his eyes, he sighed at the difficulties he encountered.

"Hayi, the problem is that things always sound easier in concept. I had a lot of work to do at such a young age and fast with our fleeting numbers. Since my father had managed to connect all seven tribes, I had to unite them as one and truly achieve 'Sumunye.' To ensure that one million Racaans stayed together as one unit."

"There were many times in my thirteen years of ruling as Chief when 'Sumunye' almost collapsed between us and the way of 'Peaceful Defense' was on the verge of turning into 'Offensive Domination.' I fought many bloodied battles against my own people and the other tribes to ensure that we never followed such a dark path."

At this Ramsis opened his mouth to speak. "Actually, that's something I've been wondering about."

Renero's brows elevated a little as he let him speak.

"You Racaans had all the power in the world to take revenge against us humans, your enemies, even with your lower numbers. To protect yourselves, to protect your children for all the lives we took from you. The lives and power we needed to have against the primals, against ourselves and against you for being a major cause for the cursed primal gene in the beginning all those centuries ago. Why did you never use your power the right way to survive?"
