Song of the Chapter : I Been - Ari Lennox

"Miella!" I turn my head to see the boy that I've been falling head over heels for the last few months. It was weird for me, I wouldn't think that someone like him would fall for a girl like me.

"Hey." I shyly say before he starts walking right next to me, our arms occasionally grazing past each other which made the hair stand all over my arm stand up. "Are you free?"

I put my hands in my jacket pockets, "Other than standing in a coffee shop and letting customers disrespect me over some complicated ass order, there's nothing important on my agenda for the rest of the day."

He chuckles next to me while we stood at the end of the crosswalk, "Call out. There's an event tonight and I want you to be my date." We simultaneously turn to face each other, a smile creeping at the corner of his
lips.

"You know I can't, even if I wanted to."

"Miella," He grabs my hands, "You know I got you. Don't worry about anything. All you have to say is yes."

My eyes drift toward our intertwined hands as he rubs the back of it with his thumb. "Please Ellie, I have to attend this event but I refuse to go with anyone else but you." He pouts like a child, his brown hair blowing in the wind, eyes squinted from the blinding sun.

"For me." He pleads, his eyes gazing all over my face to try and read me. Usually events like these were the ones I hated, mainly because they were all formal. I know I had to work but seeing him beg knew that one night of calling out won't hurt.

"Fine." I sigh which results him to jump up in happiness. He places his hand on my waist before briefly planting a kiss on my cheek. I couldn't help but smile as he traces his finger along the side of my face. "You're the absolute best Ellie."

I wake up from my sleep, sweaty and trying to catch my breathe. These dreams haven't occurred since I moved here and the fact that they were coming back made me dread the one thing I looked forward to every night.

I looked over at my phone to see that it was 6:17 in the morning. Donovan lay on his stomach, quiet snores escaping his plump, pink lips and his chest slowly rose and fall at a constant rate. Normally he tells me that if I get any nightmares or dreams that have me waking up, to just do the same to him but it always made me feel bad.

I hated going through this. All of a sudden he's mentally coming back into my life after being fine for the last 8 months.

I stare out the window to see a slight glimmer of sunlight peeking through the few clouds that occupied the pinkish, orange sky. If there's one thing that this apartment had, was a decent view.

Out of sheer boredom, I decided to call my family. It took a few rings but they eventually answered. I immediately noticed my dad, a wave of reliefs washing over me knowing that he was no longer sitting there in that hospital after being told other wise.

"Ate!" Emmanuel eagerly smiles through the camera, dressed up in his school uniform, "We missed you."

"Speak for yourself." My devil of a sister replies while walking behind my family who settles around the screen. That brat is still ungrateful, it's disgusting and is not a true or accurate representation of how my parents raised us to be.
