My life is a mess! Sometimes, I wonder why I was even born? Was I born to just suffer? No wonder my parents disowned me when I was only 1 years old. No one likes me, no one wants me!

My names Maureen Lartey. I am 17, I have never had a good life. As soon as something goes well for me or I am happy, my world just gets knocked down again. Maybe my parents knew I would be bad luck so they left me, on the step of my foster parents front door.

There is no escape for me. I am stuck in this world. The only way I feel free and relieved, when I feel like I can be me. Is when I am drunk. The club is the place for me it calms my soul. I have to sneak in with my friends as we are still underage. It always made me better till one night...

It was an ordinary night, I did all the things I usually do. I was still quite sober. When a tall muscular man, who looked like he was in his late 20's came and stood beside me. He offered to buy me a drink. I thought why not at least I wouldn't have to spend my money. I gratefully accepted the drink. We spoke a lot that night. We would drink more and more as we spoke.

This is when an event took place, that changed my life for the worse. There was no one there to stop us. We walked into a corridor where we couldn't see anyone. The deed was commited. When you are drunk you don't even know what you are doing.
Now that I look back I wouldn't advice it at all. The alcohol took over me. I did things I would have never done if I were sober. It was over. He just looked at me and left. I just sat leaned against the wall finally realising what I had done. I didn't even get to know his name. I didn't know his number. Or where to find him.

I decided it was time for me to go home. Instead of me leaving through the front door I went through the back. I was about to tell my 'parents' that I was coming home from my 'friends house' when I heard gun shots. Two of them! I didn't know what to do! I tried to sneak away but I was caught. I was pulled back by someone who was in all back. Two other men who were with him were already on the run. I saw the cold, lifeless body just lying on the floor.

I tried to break free. I wrestled with my kidnapper. I tried to scream but something that seemed to be a glove was put in my mouth preventing me. I was put into the back of a car. Next to me was the guy who had snatched me. There was another man all dressed in black on the other side. The person driving seemed familiar. I felt like I had seen him before. How would I know, as it was quite dark in the car.

Luckily, all my moving had slightly loosened the rope. Then the car was running out of fuel. I don't know what kind of incompetent kidnappers they were. When the driver got out to get fuel and was going to pay, the man who had kidnapped me quickly went out to use the toilet. This was my chance, my chance to finally escape. I slipped my hand out of the ropes took the glove out my mouth and preformed some of my martial art skills on the kidnapper who had been left with me in the car.

If I had said I knew where I was running too, I would be lying. I just wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. I started to recognise where i was. I was near my house. I felt so lucky to have been able to escape and run away. I couldn't waste anymore time. I quickly opened my front door and closed it. I was literally panting. I was finding it difficult to catch my breath. Today could have been the day that I took my last breath if I hadn't gotten away.

I looked up and standing before me were my 'parents'. I can't even describe the look that was on their faces. I just told them that I was coming from my friend Brielle's house when I nearly got kidnapped. My 'mum' seemed to believe me and gave me a hug, asking if I was ok. But my 'dad' just stood there with folded arms looking at me suspiciously. If he found out the events that took place that day I would be screwed.

2weeks later:
A few weeks passed, life had basically returned back to normal. I didn't go to the club as I was afraid they would be after me. I couldn't risk it. Anyway, my life has weirdly been improving fast ever since i went sober. I really don't think it will last long. The only thing is when I went sober I have been getting a bit bigger. Maybe it is just natural as my body can now function normally. I probably feel sick sometimes, as I am getting rid of the toxins in me from the alcohol. To be honest I don't think much about it. After all I have been living peacefully with my foster parents, I don't want anything to ruin that.
My parents had gone out together for a 'dinner outing together', as they hadn't been out together by themselves for a long time. I had just finished making my popcorn and was about to binge watch Teen Wolf. When the door bell rang. The person didn't ring it once but several times. This was then followed by loud banging on the door. This repeated multiple times.

"We know you are in there Maureen! You can't hide from us. We know you are all alone."

I quickly grabbed my phone and dialled 999.

"Emergency services, how can we help you?"
I was going to ask for the police when I heard smashing glass. I feared that it would be the window!

"Emergency services, hello. Helooo, can we help you?"

Fear took over me, I collapsed to the floor. All I remember is seeing black figures towering over me.

What has Maureen done? Will she ever see freedom again?
