Grace's POV

I woke up and looked at the time. 11:00 am. The team is going to kill me, but I don't care right now. She got up and put on her shoes, said a thank you to Mj, and left. After a 20 minute walk, I got to the tower and headed towards her room.

When the elevator dinged, everyone turned to look at her.

"Where have you been!" asked Steve.

"Out."

I walked quickly to my room, not in the mood to talk. After changing out of my clothes, I laid in bed. The reality started to kick in. She kissed a boy she liked, and he doesn't like her back. Now their friendships ruined. I was still hurt by Peter, he could have told me he didn't like me, not just pull away.

There was a knock at the door, but she didn't have the energy to get up.

In walked Bucky.

"Are you okay?"

"Why wouldn't I be?"

"Grace..."

"I said I'm fine."

Bucky started to get up, but Grace needed someone right now.

She went up and hugged him, and tears streamed down her face. He just sat there, rubbing her back, and she felt safe. For some reason, the tears couldn't stop. After what seemed like hours, I calmed down.

"Please tell me what happened."

"It's Peter. I sort of... kissed him."

He looked excited, till he saw my face.

"What happened?"

"He... he pulled away" I whispered.

Bucky gave me a hug, then got up.

"Do you want to be alone?"

I nodded.

"Wait. Bucky?"

He stopped.

"Can you not tell anyone else. It's something I don't really want to talk about."

He nodded and left.

That afternoon she took a nap and went into the living room.

She was in a better mood, but still didn't want to deal with people.

But on the couch sat Peter Parker.

I resisted crying, breaking down, and instead went to a cold stare.

Other people were watching her and Peter, oblivious to what was going on.

She sat down in a chair, focusing on the tv.

When Steve said dinner was ready, everyone went and got food. I sat there, and so did Peter.

He walked up to me.

"Grace I'm..."

Ignoring him, I got up and went to the kitchen.

I decided to sit by Bucky and Bruce, sitting as far as possible from Peter. I'm pretty sure everyone took note of that.

"So, Peter, Grace, what did you do last night?"

I was close to saying breaking my heart, but I didn't.

"We just watched movies, and talked."

The rest of dinner I didn't give a single glance to Peter.

Afterward we watched a movie, and of course, it was a romance movie.

The girl in the movie was turned down, and at that moment, I turned to Peter giving him a look of hatred.

I knew this friendship was probably ruined forever.

But a part of me wanted to go over there and hug, forget my stupid decision to kiss him.

Peter's POV

It's been a couple weeks since that night. I've been trying to apologize, talk to her, but she won't even come near me. She makes an excuse to not sit with us at lunch. Every time I see her, I want to run to her, explain to her the truth. Remind her she's my world.

But the reality is, we are probably toast. For some reason, I won't give up though.

After school, he was trying to think of things to do.

Sitting in a coffee shop, he couldn't think of a single thing.

I was close to crying, I just wanted things to be normal.

"You alright kid?"

I looked up to see an old man.

I didn't answer.

"May I sit here?"

I nodded, and he sat down.

"What's your troubles? Obviously, it's a girl, but what happened to get you so down?"

Sighing, I let it out.

"There's this girl, she's my best friend, everything to me. But I made a stupid mistake, and she won't even talk to me."

"Well, what did you do?"

"She kissed, me and I pulled away."

"Why did you do that?"

"The girl, Grace, she's been through a lot in her life. I just don't want to hurt her. She's been hurt too much in her life."

"There's your problem."

"What?"

"You assume that not being together is the right choice. In reality, this girl needs you, and you need her. Have you thought about maybe being with her will help her, not hurt her."

"But how! I'm in constant danger, I'm Spider..."

Shit, he almost told a complete stranger his secret. Wow, Grace is messing with him.

"Have you ever almost lost her?"

"Yes."

"How did that make you feel?"

"Terrible. I mean she's my best friend, we help each other. Throw movie nights and talk about music. Laugh together. When I saw her on the brink of death, I panicked, even tried to save her. I want to protect her, and be there for her, because I love her, and keep her safe..."

I stopped, realizing what I said.

"It seems you answered your problem."

"I love her."

"If I were you, I would go fix this mess. Grace needs you right now."

I stood up and turned to him.

"How can I thank you?"

"Can you do me a favor? Give a message to a friend of mine?"

I nodded.

He leaned towards my ear and whispered.

"There is only one who is all-powerful, and his greatest weapon is love. Always remember, with great power comes great responsibility, Spider-Man."

What the hell? How did he know that?

When I came out of my thoughts, the man was gone.

Looking around, he was nowhere in sight.

But the mystery man would have to wait because I'm going to get the girl I love.
