Yeah, a new perspective! And you all thought it was just gonna be Gage (I wish) but in all seriousness, in order to get the story where I want it to go, I need to throw in a few, not Gage chapters. I love you all thanks so much for reading.

Sometimes almost nothing matters when in this kind of situation, when your life is at risk the human mind focuses on one thing. Survival.
That's not how his head worked. In the half a year they've been law enforcement officers Wyatt learned one thing. You put the lives of others over your own. He was pretty sure if he wasn't part of the team he would be huddled up in a corner where no one would find him. Wyatt looked around as best he could in the dark room, alarms were blaring threw the intercom. He always wondered why they didn't just announce it. He'll have to ask Gammy. He looked some more, did a roll call.
Rhett, check.
Brandon, check.
Me, check.
Gage... where is Gage?
He saw him leave but didn't see him come back.
'Maybe that's why Mrs. Flask was so nervous'
She sent him to the office to give them a note, and he didn't come back. He knew exactly what was going on in her mind.
The alarms ceased, it was quite. He could hear Rhett whimpering behind him while Brandon fidgeted with an eraser. He scooted backward and reached for them, Rhett took the comfort with open arms, Brandon hesitated but eventually took his hand. The darkness of the room seemed to brighten a little after and the cold floor didn't seem so cold anymore.

There was a gunshot. Rhett tightened his grip around Wyatt's arm, Brandon subconsciously leaned into the stunt man's shoulder. He counted.
One Mississippi.
Two Mississippi.
Three Mississippi.
There was another gunshot.
The seconds were agonizing.
The intercom chimed.
"Attention students and staff the shooter has been apprehended, a police officer will be coming to the classrooms to escort you out of the building where the buses will be waiting. I repeat an officer will escort you out of the building, do not leave on your own"

Thank fuck.
The minutes between the announcement and the officer getting there felt like years. When Mrs. Flask opened the door they were urged to hurriedly grab their things and leave so the rest of the school didn't have to wait much longer. As Wyatt packed his things he could hear Rhett freaking out while Debbie tried to calm him down.
"Rhett sweetie, he's probably fine"
Brandon approached with a paper bag, handing to Rhett he leaned on the desk beside him.
"Rhett, bud you and I know that he can handle himself. He'll be perfectly fine"
Wyatt's face turned grim.
"He better be, I swear if he did something stupid I'm gonna kill him" Rhett shouted.
"DON'T YOU DARE"
Debbie laughed, Brandon jumped, and Wyatt just shrugged.
"Who would you want to kill him, me or the asshat with the gun"
"Neither"

They were led down the halls and out the front door where several news vans and police cruisers were parked. Many other classes were gathered by the bench area outside the cafeteria. Wyatt felt himself speed up.
'Please be there, please be there.'
He broke into a jog, then a sprint. The officer shouted after him as he passed. He didn't care.
He reached the herd of children and started calling out, paying no mind to the attention it was getting him.
"Gage! Gage are you in there"
Brandon and Rhett had caught up with him and followed as he dove into the sea of backpacks dropping his own in the process.
He called out to his friend a few more times before he felt a hand on his shoulder.
"He's not in here Wyatt, he might still be inside"
He jerked his head around, Debbie's twin Max was standing right there. He would know if Gage was here.
His face fell, he didn't want to imagine the worst.
Wait.
He leaned left a little. A few meters away was an ambulance, and in that ambulance was Gage.
"Gage!!!"
He pushed past Max and ran. Rhett and Brandon soon followed.
A few officers stepped in front of him and the others.
"You can't come over here authorized personnel only"
He didn't like that.
"I couldn't give two shits, now get out of my way". He pushed him out of the way and continued to his friend. Brandon turned to the officer.
"We're with him"
