Amelia sighed as she stood in front of her neatly arranged closet, trying to decide what to wear to the party she has agreed to go to at the last minute. Wondering how her boyfriend would feel about her sudden change of plans, she pulled out a purple satin top and a pair of jeans.

Her hands felt clammy against her bare thighs and her heart was racing. She loved her friends and she loved partying with her twin brother more than she liked to admit, but she also loved her boyfriend. And she hated disappointing him.

The time passed faster than she had expected; the doorbell rang exactly 30 minutes after Emil had texted. With small dots of unblended foundation on her face she raced to the door of her small temporary Toronto apartment where an excited boy a few inches taller than her greeted her with a tight hug.

"Careful, you're going to get makeup on yourself!" She reprimanded Emil, earning a mocking laugh from him.

The air was cold and tickled her neck as the Ahlefeldt's stood outside Amelia's apartment complex, waiting for a cab to take them to her co-stars' house. It was on the other side of the town, the much nicer and much more glamorous part of the city.

When KJ Apa, Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes and Cole Sprouse signed their contracts for Riverdale, the production company provided them with housing, which is why they all moved into a mansion together for the duration of the shoot. Amelia was supposed to be the fifth roommate but eventually settled for an apartment of her own. She wasn't an introvert per sé; she could go hours talking and joking with her friends and she loved going out on the weekends, but she also knew living together with so many people would be the absolute chaos, which is why she decided to live on her own. She didn't regret this decision but sometimes the clashing difference between her home and theirs intimidated her. Whenever she came to visit she was forced to be reminded how vastly different their lifestyles were but at the same time Amelia knew it wasn't permanent.

The twins paid for the cab and walked up a well-lit cobblestone path up to a big golden gate.

"Don't. Embarrass. Me," Amelia said to her twin brother, grabbing the collar of his jacket threateningly. "And try not to get an STD!"

"I love you too," Emil chuckled as they walked towards the dancing, drinking and laughing crowd. Emil tended to be shy at first but soon she found him chatting up other people, so she took the opportunity to check out the rest of the house. The blonde wiggled through the surge of chatter and laughter pooled around the front lawn of the multi-million dollar estate to check if her friends were inside. It didn't take long before she could make out the charcoal thatch of her colleague Cole sprawled over a big red leather couch. With the speakers not far away from them, it was hard to make out what they were saying.

"Hey! You made it!" He slurred, wrapping the girl into a tight hug. Next to him, there were Lili and Cami.

"Yeah, Emil convinced me," she answered.

"Can you help us a second?" Lili interrupted. "Cami and I were just arguing about the word 'aunt'. Do you say 'ahhhh-nt' or 'aaaant', like the insect?"

Amelia cackled at the senselessness of their argument. "I don't know actually. But I'll have to go with ant, like the insect."

"HA!" Lili cheered, striking a triumphant pose.

"Pfft, she's Danish! That doesn't count!" Cami argued, but was silenced by Lili's victorious chant.

"I'm half American, but okay," Amelia laughed, to which the two girls in front of her made a dismissive gesture.
There was no doubt that the two of them had had too much to drink and after she had talked to them a little more, Amelia decided to check out the rest of the house and find other people she knew before vanishing upstairs. The house had five bedrooms (as far as she knew), a big library, a study, a billiard room and a music room. As she was walking through the dark hallways, she noticed an open door to a spacey white bedroom with a big balcony overlooking the northern (thus the quieter) side of the estate that she decided to check out. She had to get away from the unbearable noise.

Just as she turned away from the balcony to leave the room, her phone rang. She fished it out of her small back and immediately smiled when she recognized the caller ID.

"Hey baby! What's-"

"Where are you? I just got home from filming and your lights are off," Isaac said dryly.

"I'm so sorry, Emil made me go to KJ's party and I didn't want to disturb you at work," she explained.

"Aha," he said, in the same dry and cold manner as before that sent shivers down Amelia's spine.

"Do you want me to come home?" She carefully asked as to not make her boyfriend even angrier. She hated getting on his bad side.

He was silent for a moment, the only thing Amelia could hear was his heavy breathing along with the loud thumping in her chest.

"Why didn't you check with me? I just stopped by your house for nothing. I can't believe you", he answered.

"I'm sorry, I guess I wasn't thinking... I-"

"Yeah, you aren't doing much of that lately, are you?"

"Excuse me?"

He let out a big sigh on the other end of the line and then continued, "I can't do this right now. You're probably drunk off your ass."

"I'm not, Isaac. I just came- "

"Now you're even lying to me, Amelia. I can't believe this. Call me tomorrow when you sober up, okay?"

"Isaac? Isaac?" She asked, but there was nobody on the other line. She sighed, cupping her face with her hands in desperation.

The thing she had hoped to avoid had ultimately happened. It was her fault for not telling him about the party and she couldn't help but be mad at herself. She knew how much he disliked it when she didn't inform him about her whereabouts, Emil's endless begging probably made her forget about it.

Just as she picked herself up and got ready to leave what seemed to be the guest room, a tall guy with a neat brown side part came in, a petite brunette following him. They were both giggling but stopped quickly when they saw Amelia and her red face.

"Hey, are you okay?" The guy asked. He had a deep, yet calm voice which managed to calm her nerves a little. But when she looked at his hand that was intertwined with the beautiful brunette's, she knew she didn't want to disturb them any more.

She rose from her position and moved to the door, grabbing onto the cold metal doorknob. Without turning around, she pushed open the door and disappeared into the roaring party crowd.
