Chapter 2

"Ahhhhhhhh!” I sat up abruptly panting.  My breath came out in short gasps finding it extremely difficult to breathe.  I glanced around nervously until realizing I was in my own bedroom.  My eyes were brimming with tears when I noticed I was shaking uncontrollably, and was completely soaked in sweat.  Trying to calm myself, I thought of it as only a dream.  But I had been having that dream for the past two months now.  After every dream, I'd wake up screaming for my life, breathing heavily with my heart racing.  I'd wake up with a terrible feeling eating up inside me.

I've only managed to remember bits and pieces before, but now, it seemed as if it kept getting more vivid, more descriptive, and each time worse. Every time I dreamed it was as if I had truly lived the nightmare.

I attempted numerous times before to recollect the entire dream, but it felt useless.  I only remembered something about someone named...Carson?... I don't even know someone with that name!

This time, I remembered people pinning me down to the moist ground...and someone screaming...then the very familiar peaceful darkness.  And lastly that hypnotic voice, it was always that voice.  How could someone forget that honey-like voice?  It haunted my every dream.  The effect that voice had on me is what disturbs me the most.  It was beautiful, musical, very compelling, but somehow cold, stern, and demonstrating great authority.

For some unknown reason, I was strangely terrified, yet so attracted to that voice.  Why? I would die to know...

I jumped out of bed and headed towards the bathroom.  I peeled my t-shirt and shorts off my body and stepped into the shower, allowing the cold water to calm me down, in hopes of forgetting this nightmare.

After my shower I made my way towards my bedroom door, opened it, and tiptoed downstairs, careful not to awaken anyone.  I probably wouldn't anyways.  Both my parents are heavy sleepers and well, if I hadn't woken them up with my screams ever before, why would they now?  I didn't have to worry about my brother and sister, Jake and Lexi.  They're twins, and as soon as they finished high school, they packed their bags and ventured out to explore the world, with the alibi of "looking for the right school."  Those two are inseparable.  I believe it was last week, my mother mentioned them being in France touring some schools, as if.  They were most likely partying away at some friend's house.  They always manage to have friends everywhere.

I went into the kitchen, grabbed a glass of water, and drank thirstily.

I walked to the living room and picked up my iPod Touch off the end table. Taking two steps at time, I hurried upstairs towards my room, suddenly exhausted.

"That's weird." I whispered to myself.  I could have sworn the window next to my bed was closed when I woke up.  I went over to it and closed it while looking out at the woods behind my house.

I trudged over to my bed and climbed in.  I grabbed my ear buds and plugged them into my iPod letting the melody of "Bring Me to Life" by Evanescence drift me to sleep.

Somewhere between sleep and reality, I thought I could see a pair of violet eyes gazing at me, watching me intently, from a once opened window.                                                                                         ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
