Don't look back.
You can do it.
You're almost there.
You can't let them catch you.
Those phrases repeated themselves over and over inside my head.
"You're almost there Camille, you have to make it, you have to," I tried to maintain myself as awake, alert, and sane; trying to avoid the nerve-wracking truth.
Those vicious slaves, all scattered throughout the woods, were gaining on me. They were following orders; only following orders.
How could he do this to me? I thought I could trust Carson. He said he cared. But now, he was the leader of the search group.
I pushed the thought of Carson's betrayal aside, as tears menaced to escape, blurring my vision. He wasn't going to be the reason for them spotting me.
I dodged the trees, seeing that it was getting darker out here. Soon I would not be able to distinguish them or anything else for that matter. But I don't care. I am going to escape.
I kept on running, ignoring the pain from the gashes on my arms and legs. There were bruises already forming on my body. If I don't reach the borderline, these gashes and bruises will be nothing compared to what he will do. He is the reason of my escape. The reason for why I'm trapped in this living nightmare. The prince, or actually king now, to be exact, is why I am, now, a fugitive.
I didn't see the three guards, as they pounced on me, just before reaching the borderline. I lay on the ground thrashing my arms and legs in all directions, unsuccessfully. But it wasn't possible for a human girl to compete against three of these creatures. As they pinned me down, his voice invaded my mind, "You'll never leave my grounds, girl, and you are staying with me forever." Black dots danced in front of me, as I gave into darkness, an utterly dark, yet peaceful sleep that somehow seemed like death itself. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
