15. Unwanted attentions.

Start from the beginning

"Stop being overly dramatic; I assure you, you'll enjoy it," Steff reassured me, as if he were well-versed in the realm of parties.

"But what if something dreadful happens?"

"No need to fret. After today's events, I don't think anyone would be foolish enough to allow any harm to befall you," he teased, a mischievous smile dancing upon his lips. "Now that the school's most audacious fellow has laid claim to you, you're akin to the queen of Sheba-someone not to be trifled with."

Blushing, I found myself at a loss for words. Did Kristen truly stake a claim on me earlier?

"Enough, let's proceed to the party," Maria interjected, her voice tinged with exasperation.

As the front door swung open, I instinctively contemplated making a swift escape-keyword being "contemplated." The overpowering scent of alcohol mingled with the sight of perspiring, amorous teenagers grinding against one another on the dance floor repulsed me.

"This place is utterly repugnant," I choked, while a group of boys passed by, whistling and casting appraising glances in our direction.

"Let's find something to uplift your spirits," Maria suggested, gently taking my hand.

"But I don't drink."

"No one said you had to consume alcohol," she reassured me.

Surveying my surroundings in a desperate hope of catching a glimpse of the individual I longed to interact with, all I witnessed were a swarm of hormonally charged teenagers engrossed in passionate displays of affection.

Snap out of it, Anna! Don't allow yourself to be carried away. You're here to revel in the party, not to engage in flirtation.

"Here, drink this," Maria offered, handing me a cup containing a vibrant red liquid. Aware of the imprudent behavior often associated with alcohol, I had always made it a point to keep my distance.

"What is this?" I asked, cautiously inhaling the fragrance of the beverage.

"It's a blend of Red Bull and apple juice," Maria explained.

"How do you know about this?" I inquired, still skeptical about taking a sip.

"I used to attend parties back in my hometown, and it was a popular concoction there. Isn't that right, Steff?" Maria turned to Steff, who responded with a disgruntled expression.

"Yeah," Steff replied with a disgruntled look.

Apologies for the confusion. Here is the revised response, including the last paragraph you provided:

"Yeah," Steff replied with a disgruntled look.

The fact that Steff knew what it was was quite fine with me because he would never let anything happen to me... well, with Kristen being an exception, as I had noted earlier.

I took a sip of the liquid, a very sweet yet slightly burning sensation going down my throat. In all my dull years of child growth, this was the best drink I've ever tasted.

"Well, it does taste great!" I said through the music as I quaffed two cups as I went.

"Hey, take it easy," I heard Steff say.

"B... but I want m... more," I whined, feeling very light-headed and free after drinking two and a half cups. I really need to drink more of this every day!

"She's actually having a great time, Steff. Don't ruin it for her."

"L... let's party!" I slurred, feeling the best I've ever felt in my long years of living.

"Should have known she was a lightweight," someone mumbled.

I made a dash for it, heading to the dance floor, but my hand had been grabbed by Maria. "Wait, Steffon, could you run to the washroom and get a piece of wet cloth? I need to make sure she's okay first."

"Yeah, I'll be right back," I thought I heard Steff say, but my mind was too cloudy, and I really wanted to dance.

What happened after that was a blur because all I knew was I was on the dance floor, busting dance moves after moves while grinning like an idiot.

"What the hell is she doing here?!" a very high-pitched voice yelled over the music, and I turned, grinning when I saw who it was.

"Reginaaa! Woah, look at youuu! L... looking like a pumpkin!" I slurred, giggling.

Woah, why do my words sound so funnyyyy?

"It's obvious the nerd's drunk and needs to be escorted out," she said, popping her pink, fluffy-looking lips, and I giggled.

"T... that's the f... first time I've ever seeeen youuu talk that sssmart," I finished, but then a strange feeling rose in my throat. I quickly covered my mouth, but that wasn't enough as it spewed right out all at once.

"Ahhhhhhhh!"

I giggled once more after seeing Regina's angry and disgusted face with vomit all over her.

"Now youuu l... look perfect," I giggled, using my hands to smother it more on her.

"You stupid bitch!" she yelled.

"Woahhh, take it easyyy, or else people will hear youuu," I whispered, covering my ears dramatically, but I'm sure everyone knew because the music stopped playing and they were already recording.

I saw her hand raise as if it was about to hit me, but a hand from behind caught it instantly.

"Kristen!" I yelled, hugging the gorgeous boy behind me who was accompanied by Kyle and the twins.

"Kristen, look what that stupid bitch did to me!"

"Just get it cleaned up, Regina. Problem solved," my baby said to her sternly while wiping my mouth and hand with what seemed to be wipes.

I then played with his shirt, ignoring their stupid conversation as he wasn't paying me much attention, which I hated.

"L... let's have fun, Kristen!" I slurred.

"Where's McCollum?" Kristen gritted, now glaring down at me.

"I..I have no idea," I said, now feeling a little drained from all the excitement.

In one swift move, I was lifted up and now being cradled in his arms. "You just can't seem to keep away from trouble, can you, princess?" he said, and I smiled.

"Only because I wanted to see you again," was the last thing I said before darkness took over.
