Newt ran in the direction he heard the scream, hoping the entire time that his fears were wrong. That the worst case scenario in his head was lying to him, that she wasn't hurt at all. That she hadn't dared to touch the Obscurial. However, all of these fears proved to be true when he walked in to the area he kept it and saw ______ laying on the ground.

"______!" Newt yelled, running over to her and falling to the ground next to her. He could tell that she reached out to it with her left arm, because going from the tips of her fingers to her shoulder was a deep mark, looking very similar to the marks that were on the man's body who got attacked by Credence in December. Except instead of her entire body being covered, it was just her left arm. Probably because this Obscurial is weaker compared to Credence, not to mention detached from the host.

______ was non-responsive, and Newt put a hand to her neck, feeling for a pulse. It was weak, but she still had one. He could feel it. Without hesitation, Newt picked her up and started to head back to his office. With all the adrenaline running through him, ______ felt like a feather. He was scared for her, scared of losing her. Suddenly, all of the feelings that he told himself he was beginning to feel for her came to the surface, and he knew right away why he was so desperate to protect her.

He was beginning to fall in love with her.

Newt shook his head. He had to focus. If I don't take care of her now and I lose her, I'll never be able to tell her or find out if she feels the same. I'll never speak to her again, so I have to focus on bringing her pulse up. He ran into his office, shutting the door behind him and laying her on the bed.

Newt turned and started grabbing some bottles of medicine he kept in his study. He was always sure to keep medicine with him just in case. He mixed some together and turned back to ______, carefully pouring some into her mouth. She was most unconscious, but he hoped she was just aware enough to swallow some of the liquid. He felt her pulse again, and somehow, it felt even weaker than before and her breathing slowed.

Newt knew he was no good under pressure, so instead, he told himself not to worry and not to panic. He took a deep breath and decided what he had to do get ______ to start breathing regularly again. The one way he knew how to do that was by giving her mouth-to-mouth. He took a deep breath, prepared himself, and leaned in.

Newt started with light compressions, not wanting to press too hard and harm her in any way. He knew it was possible to break someone's ribs, and he didn't want to risk hurting her any more than he already had. He leaned in, carefully putting his mouth over hers, and started to breath into her mouth, hoping he was doing this right. He took his lips away and checked her pulse again: it was back.

Newt sighed in relief and looked down at ______. She was still out cold, and Newt started to worry. Her memory was already all over the place, and now that there were people after her and she was fully unconscious, he didn't know what to do to keep her safe besides get her far, far away. That was the only option he thought there was left. Whatever her past was, he didn't care. He cared about who she was right now, and right now, he felt an urge to protect her like never before.

He put a hand on her cheek and smiled. He couldn't help but think about how beautiful he found her, and that she looked peaceful when she was asleep. It wasn't a good time to think it, but he thought so anyways. His thumb ran over her cheeks, and her skin was soft to the touch. Before Newt could get lost in his thoughts staring at her, Tina and Queenie came down the ladder, finally finding out that the both of them were in his case. Tina noticed the marks on _______'s arm right away. "What happened?" Tina asked him. "We were all dueling upstairs, then you and Roy disappeared, and then Roy came out asking where we hid ______. I had no idea what to say. How did she get in here?"

"Looks like when we left her alone in the room, she got tired of all the mystery we had been putting on my case," Newt admitted, not looking away from ______ to face Tina. "I don't blame her; we haven't been honest with her even when we know she was already around magic before she lost her memories. Not that it matters now, we have to tell her at this point. The marks on her arm aren't going to go away."

Tina could tell by the tone of Newt's voice that he was upset to see ______ like this, and she couldn't blame him. "What happened to her arm?" Queenie asked as Tina remained silent.

"Obscurial," Newt said simply. "She thought it was a good idea to touch the Obscuras I have in here, and..." Newt trailed off, thinking the worst. "It's my fault. I should've put it somewhere safer, I shouldn't have locked her in. Now she's unconscious, and I have no idea when she might wake up."

Tina spoke up, moving towards Newt. "It's not just your fault, Newt. We shouldn't have hidden everything from her, we probably just hindered her memory. It's obvious she's attached to magic in every aspect. There's something wrong with this situation, and it's not just about Roy coming her to fight us. Whoever is looking for her... I feel like it'll be better for her to get away from him. The way they talked about her like she was just an object to be handed off is never a good sign."

Newt nodded in agreement. "I don't know what to do," he admitted, looking away from ______ and looking towards Tina and Queenie.

Queenie gave him a reassuring smile. "We can find that out together, Newt. For now, we need to clean up and find out who wants ______ back so badly."

Newt took the hand and followed the two of them out of his case, ______ still laying on the bed. Newt made a promise to himself: he would take care of her. No matter what. Not just while she was unconscious, but also while facing whatever was going to come next. He was going to stay right here.
