Chapter 9 - She Needs Our Help

THE OTHER'S POV

Petra: "We need to help, Jesse!"

Axel: "But she said..."

Petra: "I don't care what she says! She needs our help!"

Olivia: "Petra's right, Axel. Jesse would do the same for us."

Axel: "How do we find her?"

Petra: "Lukas!"

They ran to Lukas' house and banged on the door.

Petra: "Lukas! Open up!"

Lukas: "What is it guys?"

Axel: "It's Jesse."

Lukas: "Don't tell me she..."

Olivia: "Ran off to get Reuben."

Lukas: "Ahhh! I thought she was joking."

Petra punched his shoulder.

Lukas: "Oww! What was that for?!"

Petra: "Why would she be joking about something like that?!"

Lukas: "She's going to get herself killed out there!!"

Petra: "Why do you think we're here?"

Lukas: "Come on, guys. We're going to the Sahara Desert."

Petra punched him again

Lukas: "Oww! Yeah. I guess I deserve that."

JESSE'S POV

Jesse: "I'm finally here! Wow! This place is so cool!"

I wiped my forehead.

Jesse: "Not literally. Phew. It sure is hot."

I went to the info desk at the airport.

Jesse: "Excuse me? Can you point me in the direction of the tippy top of Chad?"

Receptionist: "Certainly, miss."

She pointed strait out the door.

Jesse: "Thank you."

I started my walk. I kept my mind fixed on Reuben to keep me motivated.

Jesse: "Stay strong, Buddy."

THE OTHER'S POV

My friend's arrived at the airport back home. They went to the info desk.

Petra: "Excuse me? We're looking for our friend."

Receptionist: "Name?"

Axel: "Ok. I'm Axel. This is Olivia, Petra and Lukas."

Receptionist: "No. I meant the name of your friend."

Olivia: "Jesse."

Receptionist: "Jesse?"

Axel: "Yeah!"

Lukas: "You've seen her?"

Receptionist: "Yes. She asked me which was the closed airport to the tippy top of Chad."

Axel: "Chad?"

Receptionist: "That's right."

Lukas: "Can we see your map please?"

She showed them her map.

Lukas: "She's heading towards the middle of the Sahara Desert. Hadrian's Layer. What airport did you tell her?"

Receptionist: "the Abéché Airport."

They looked at the map again.

Petra: "That's way too far away from the tippy top!"

Receptionist: "I'm sorry dears but that is the closest. Would you like a ticket?"

Lukas: "Yes. 4 tickets to the Abéché Airport please."

They got their tickets and got on the plane.

Axel: "Jesse is miles away from her destination."

Olivia: "Knowing her, she's going to try and walk the whole way."

Petra: "In the middle of the desert!"

Lukas: "She needs us. We have to be fast!"

Half way there, Petra looked over at Lukas.

Petra: "Hey. Lukas. Chill. Jesse's going to be fine."

Lukas: "How can you tell me to chill, Petra?! Jesse may not even be alive!"

Petra: "Don't say that! You know her as well as I do! She is a tough cookie. We will get to her in time."

Lukas: "I hope you're right."

When they got to the airport in Chad, They went strait to the info desk.

Lukas: "Hi. Can you point us in the direction of the tippy top of Chad?"

She pointed strait out the door.

Lukas: "Thanks."

They started running out.

Receptionist: "That's the second time someone asked me that today."

They stopped and turned around.

Axel: "Who?"

Receptionist: "A girl. I estimate about 17. Dark hair."

Olivia: "That's Jesse!"

Petra: "Come on guys! Hurry! We have to find her!"

JESSE'S POV

I am half way to the tippy top. I have started moving slower and slower.

Jesse: "Must keep moving... Must save Reuben... So hot..."

Next thing I knew I collapsed on the boiling hot sand.
