[25] Downward Spiral

Start from the beginning

"This is insane. We have to put a stop to this." Isabelle stated as she saw Meliorn sitting at the interrogation desk.

"Yeah, well, enjoy portalling back to Idris with mom and dad." Myrcella felt Alec's breath behind her as he crouched down to look at the monitor himself. She tried to scooch away but the desk wouldn't let her.

"Meliorn is here because of me." Isabelle blamed herself for the upcoming fate of her Seelie friend.

"Alec's right. There's nothing we can do to stop this interrogation." Jace was on the other side of Myrcella, his arms crossed.

"You're on Alec's side now?" Isabelle asked with a raised eyebrow, clearly annoyed with him.

"We swore to protect each other, of course he's on my side." Alec replied instead of his parabatai.

"I'm not picking sides. Jace Wayland is Switzerland. We have got to find Valentine. Let's let this play out, Izzy. Meliorn might have some important information." Jace defended himself but the two girls weren't having any of it. "You're awfully quiet." Jace narrowed his eyes at the girl who always had an opinion. Myrcella didn't reply when she heard Lydia's voice from the monitor.

"Forensics don't lie. Tell me what you know about the blood in the Forsaken." Lydia, again, wrongfully accused Meliorn.

"Have you considered that the blood in the Forsaken came from our dead scouts? Scouts sent to help you hunt Valentine. Why do you think we would side with a murderer?" Meliorn sounded calm which was good for the interrogation.

"Seelies always play both sides." Lydia shot back with a smile.

"You should talk to your own people about playing sides." Meliorn shot back with a smile of his own. "If only Shadowhunters had a better relationship with us Downworlders, you'd know that Valentine's daughter has the Cup." He continued making the group's eyes widen. "And his other daughter has more to her than meets the eye." He added and Myrcella could feel three sets of eyes on her. She didn't dare to look up from the monitor. If the Clave knew about her, with them hating on Downworlders, she sure would get stripped of her runes.

"Still think we should let this play out?" Isabelle asked angrily to the two guys as she held an assuring hand to Myrcella's shoulder.

Before they could even react, Lydia and couple more Shadowhunters were in front of them. Isabelle and Jace took a protective step towards Myrcella but she gently pushed them aside and stood up, walking till she was face to face with Lydia.

"Can I help you?" Myrcella asked with an annoyed tone.

"I'm sure you heard the Seelie, Meliorn, talk. What did he mean?" Lydia asked determined which was stupid if she really thought Myrcella would reply truthfully.

"Probably talked about my skills in bed. I'm pretty famous with a particular set of skills." Myrcella replied with a wink which made her friends snicker. Lydia gave her an annoyed look and clicked her tongue.

"Also the location of the Cup. We know your sister has it." Lydia added and Myrcella decided to tell her where it was.

"Okay, you caught us. Follow me." Myrcella replied looking down. She heard sounds of protests from Jace and Isabelle but the girl led them to Clary's room. "Is this the cup you're talking about?" Myrcella picked up the cow shaped coffee mug from her sister's nightstand. Myrcella could have sworn she saw the blood rush to the blonde Shadowhunter's face when she realized Myrcella was mocking her, and her two friends couldn't even hold back their laughter. They knew Myrcella wasn't going to betray them when she took the route to her sister's room. Alec on the other hand wasn't pleased with her actions as he wanted her to stay off Lydia's and the Clave's radar. "Oh, stupid me. You meant the Mortal Cup. No, sorry. Haven't got the slightest idea." Myrcella added smacking her forehead in a silly manner.

"Search the room." Lydia ignored the girl and ordered the guys around her. Isabelle scoffed, still with a small smile playing on her lips from the girl's antics and pulled Myrcella away with her before she could get herself into trouble.

"I fucking love you." Isabelle exclaimed when they were out of earshot. "The look on her face." She said chuckling, reliving it in her mind.

"She had it coming. Laughing aside, I think we should warn Clary." Myrcella grew concerned for her sister, now that Lydia was after her.

"Got it covered." Jace announced as he rushed over to the two. He had informed them of everything he had told Clary and Myrcella thanked him.

After learning that Meliorn was to be taken to the Silent Brothers, all hell started to break loose. Isabelle and Jace had tried to convince Alec but he wasn't on their side anymore.

"You want me to do what?" Myrcella asked Jace to see if she had heard him right.

"We need Alec's stele if we want to take the Cup away from this place." Jace explained himself quietly.

"And you're the only one here, who can get it without being caught." Isabelle whispered, hinting about her warlock side. "Or we could ask Magnus." Isabelle suggested but Myrcella shook her head.

"No, I'll do it. I don't want Magnus be involved in this. Who knows what would happen if he were to get caught." Myrcella replied with a solemn look.

"I'll text you when we're done." Jace patted the girl's shoulder and walked off towards the vault.

"And I'll be on lookout." Isabelle smiled as she walked with Myrcella towards Alec's room. Isabelle stopped at the corner so she would be able to stop anyone who was walking Myrcella's way. Myrcella took a deep breath and stood next to Alec's door. She snapped her fingers and made a part of the wall invisible to her eyes so she could see inside. She saw Alec tending to the wound on his arm from the Forsaken attack. She felt a pang of hurt in her as she didn't heal him like she did herself but she shook it off. She saw his stele standing out from his pocket so she quickly transported it to Jace. She counted to twenty when she received a text from Jace. Alec was now putting on his shirt so she had to be quick. Myrcella quickly transported the stele back to its original place and returned the piece of the wall back to normal. Myrcella started walking away when she heard the door open.

"Myrcella?" Alec called out shocked. However, she wasn't going to stop any day soon. "Myrcella!" Alec called out again, this time the voice came closer. "Myrcella, stop." Alec said as he held her arm. If looks could kill, Alec would have been dead at least twice from the look he was getting from the girl.

"What?!" She raised her voice and Alec took a step back but not letting her arm go. He didn't know why he had stopped her but he hadn't talked to her since his engagement and he knew he had to talk to her about it. Though for some reason, when he looked her in the eyes, he couldn't find the strength in him to tell her about his engagement. "If you're waiting for a congratulations, don't hold your breath." Myrcella gritted her teeth and harshly pulled her arm away before rushing off. She was sure Isabelle had heard them when she saw the look on her face. "Don't. Let's just go save Meliorn first." Myrcella muttered, not wanting to think of the look on Alec's face. He was the one who proposed, he didn't get the luxury of looking at her like that. Myrcella shook those thoughts off her mind. For now, she was determined to save Meliorn for her friend and anyone who would dare to stand in her way would get burned. "I'm in the mood for some hell-raising."
