You said
that the thing the movie star
did with her arm and fingers
was something you did
with your wrist.
It reminded me of
the times I did the same to
my ankles,
my thighs,
my wrists,
my neck.
Despite not being able
to bear seeing you
sink rather than swim,
not continuing
to pull you out of the deep end,
I stepped back into the water
and let myself sink once again.
