"Johanna! That's enough about Peeta in that way. Maybe you can get Marvel to stop bugging me" Katniss grumbles, Marvel Zeffermen is part of the annoying group at school, although Johanna sees him as more hot than annoying.
It's getting towards the end of summer, so far she's spent it hanging out with her friends and family, also... a lot of sex with Peeta. "You're starting up college again next week and I'm only starting my Junior year next week. We can't work, Peeta. You must see that" he stands abruptly
"Did anything I say to you matter? I've never loved someone the way I love you. I've never given someone my heart like I had with you. Here I thought that finally I have a beautiful girl who returns my feelings. I don't want to let you go, Katniss, but if this is what you want then alright then" his lips are formed in a straight line
"You... love me?" She asks
"Since I first laid eyes on you. I thought you felt the same but... I guess not" he frowns, she stands too and grabs his hand
"I do feel the same. It's just... you've still got two years left of college and I've still got five years of schooling ahead of me. This'll never work. Just... try to move on... for me" Katniss frowns, Peeta sighs
"I only want you happy, Katniss. I don't like that this is what it takes. I hope you know that I can never find another woman like you... I wish you the best for the future, you deserve it" he tells her, he kisses her forehead and walks away, Katniss almost calls out for him, he looks over his shoulder and gives her a sad smile before continuing to walk to his car.
