Authors POV
The girl with brunette hair and blue eyes aims for the first deer she's seen all winter, this is definitely going to please her mother, she took a deep breath before pulling the arrow back and just as she goes to shoot she hears a voice
"Hey, little girl" the voice said, this made her shoot her arrow into a tree by the deer and it leaps off, the girl is outraged by this and turns seeing a man
"Damn you! I almost had it!" She angrily replies
"Sure you did" he says smiling, the girl reminding of someone he came to see if she has feelings for him
"And I'm not little I'm twelve" she adds confidently
"No twelve year old should be out here alone" he replies
"I'm capable of taking care of myself" she stubbornly replies and he chuckles
"Anyway I've come to ask you something" he continues and she stays quiet letting him continue
"Do you know where I could find Katniss Everdeen?" I asks hopeful, the girl is confused about why he'd want to see her mother
"Yea, I see her everyday"
"Can you show me to her?" He asks
"And why would I do that?"
"I've come to see if she has feelings for me and if she'll run away" he smiles but the girl raises her eyebrow
"I think your too late" she states
"And why's that?" He asks
"Cause she'll never leave father" she replies
"Father?" The man questions
"You haven't heard? Katniss and Peeta Mellark? Our family has been on television before" she replies, from the inside this man is broken but shows nothing from the outside
"What's your name?" He asks
"Willow Mellark, who are you, stranger" she asks
"Gale Hawthorne, your mom hasn't mentioned me?" He asks she shakes her head
"Only in school" she adds, Gale is upset that his best friend hasn't mentioned him to her daughter
"Can you show me too her?" He asks
"Only if you don't make her upset again" Willow snaps and doesn't wait for an answer and turns on her heel and walks out of the woods, holding onto her hunting gear in case he tries to pull something.
She walks past the victors college and down a new street, Katniss and Peeta got memories and Peetas flashbacks would get worse so when Willow was born they moved out of the victors village and it's like Peetas flashbacks never happened.
As she walks to her house as her father comes out, she runs to her father hugging him, he hugs his daughter back but looks up
"Gale" he calmly states holding his daughter tightly as he thinks Gale can take her from him
"I'm here to see Katniss" Gale says with no emotion
"I don't know if knows a good time" Peeta states knowing his wife's condition
"Just let me see her" he spits and Willow reaches for one of her arrows but her father, against violence stops his daughter
"I'll see if she wants to wake up from her sleep" Peeta replies, not wanting to wake up his peaceful sleeping wife, he helps Katniss outside after she agreed, as they walked out, all Gale could concentrate on was her big, round belly which was hard to miss
"Willow go inside" Katniss ordered her daughter, listening she goes inside with her father
"So I thought I remember you saying that you were never having kids" Gale starts and Katniss smiles, Gale doesn't remember Katniss ever being like this, her hair is in a ponytail instead of a single braid, she smiles and lightness is in her eyes
"Peeta wanted them badly and so I agreed and I'm happy" she replies
"Do you love me?" He asks, Katniss is shocked after leaving for nineteen years and only now showing up, she's 38, married and has kids, he's a little too late
"You were never there Gale" she mumbled rubbing her four month old belly
"Thought to give you time" he replies
"Nineteen years?" She snaps
"I'm gonna leave" he says, hurt thinking he changed
"Your not staying?" She asks more angry then upset
"No, you obviously happy without me, I'll leave you alone" he walks off and she doesn't stop him, he was hoping she will but she didn't, she knew her place was with Peeta, it always has, she loved Peeta dearly and has let him out of her grasp before but she's not going to do it again, she was madly in love with Peeta and nothing can stop their romance story from going on and on.
