Most people absolutely ht getting up at five in the morning on a Monday but not for Katniss, she's been going to this routine ever since her mother passed away last year. Katniss has had a very eventful childhood but not the good kind, at the age of eight her father tragically passed away and then when her little sister was only thirteen, she had gotten hit by a speeding car walking home from her babysitting job and now her mother passed away by overdosing last year, now Katniss partly blames herself because her mom lived all the way in West Virginia whereas Katniss lives all the way in New York to escape her troubles behind in her childhood home.
Katniss puts on her usual black nike sports bra and then her black sport shorts with a green line on each side of the outer thigh to add colour to the plain black shorts. After she puts on her new sporting shoes, she starts to jog all the way to the gym a few blocks away from the place she calls home. She listens to music as she jogs along the pathway while skilfully dodging the people who seem to be in her way.
She decided a while ago to be a nurse at a nursing home and so once she was accepted the position at a nursing home in New York just only a few months out of college, she packed and set off to New York the place that's grown on her since she's lived here. She's worked at the nursing home for five years now and she's seen these old fragile people pass away but she's use to it although it's not a nice thought to run through your head which is why she decided to go to the gym, get her mind of things and she's been doing it for a solid year now which she's very proud of.

Like always Katniss pushes herself beyond her abilities but she ends up completing what she's pushed herself to do but that hasn't always been her best quality because just like she did with her mother, she pushes people and things away, she doesn't understand why because that's just how she lives and how she is but the thought of her pushing her mother away may have been the cause of her death
"Jesus, Katniss. Take a break your face is as red as a tomato" her best friend since college and gym partner Madge says
"I'm fine, I feel fine. I like pushing myself" she replies after hitting the button on the treadmill to go faster
"You're so boring, you spend mornings at the gym, go to work then go home. It's the same thing over and over again" she sighs
"And thats good, I don't need any changes. My life is how I want it right now, nothing needs to change" Katniss explains while trying to focus on keeping her breathing under control
"Why don't you just come out this weekend with the girls and I? It'll be fun and you can just unwind" Madge smiles at her best friend hoping for an answer, Katniss slowly stops the treadmill to scowl at her friend
"Madge... leave it be because I really don't feel up for a lecture about how I should live my life. I know your just caring about my well-being and that's sweet but I'll be okay, I've got you and Johanna and that's all I really need, okay?" She reassures Madge and with a defeated sigh Madge drops the subject and joins her friend with their usual gym routine but as Katniss's eyes scan the gym waiting for Madge to complete all fifty sit ups she notices a man, with blonde hair and the most bluest eyes you'd ever see that shine as he practices fighting in a ring, using punches and kicks that even makes the poor person who holds up the pads to wince, even though she shouldn't, she finds herself attracted to this man and she doesn't know if it's the fact that he's an impressive fighter or that she can see every inch of his muscles as he circles in the ring
"Earth to Katniss? Hellooo?" Katniss immediately snaps out of her gaze and faces her friend who smirks with a raised eye brow
"What?" Katniss says as she watches behind Madge's shoulder to see the man who was fighting in the ring is wiping a towel over his wet body but of course with her luck he looks over and his lips turn up into a smirk then he winks at Katniss before leaving, Katniss is hoping that her already red cheeks hide her blushing because that is not what Katniss Everdeen does anymore
