The Prompt
An intrepid band of space explorers from Earth, circa 2500, happen upon an apparently deserted, desolate galaxy. There is much evidence that life existed at some point - ruined cities, barely-functional hyperspace markers, empty vessels adrift in space. Most importantly, however, our intrepid band pick up a very, very weak signal, presumably a beacon of some kind.
It is, of course, a galaxy far, far away, but in a reality where the Star Wars franchise never existed.

The Fine Print
- The closing date for this contest is Wednesday, July 31st at 23:59 BST.
- You should tell your story in no more than 10,000 words. This is a very loose limit, however, and you won't be penalised for going above that word count.
- Your entry should be submitted as a standalone story and NOT as part of an existing collection. It can be written over the course of as many chapters as you see fit.
- Your entry MUST be written in English. Unfortunately we have no other language capabilities at this time.
- Mature content is permitted, but if included your entry MUST be marked as mature.
- Your entry must be submitted via this form only. However, we encourage you to share the direct link to your story in the comments' section below, that you might share your blood, sweat and tears, with your fellow Wattpadders.
