(Chapter 15) I just want to blow your mind

You heart instantly goes out to him.

You clasp his hand tight.

"You can tell me anything, Jimin."

He lowers his eyes.

"I know this is going to be hard to believe, but... will you hear me out first, even if it sounds strange?"

"Of course," you tell him.

But you're nervous now too.

Why was he so nervous?

What could he possibly be so nervous about?

Did he want to talk to Taehyung together?

That would be fine.

Please let it be that.

Jimin clears his throat.

"Um, just... look at this first."

He grips the bottom hem of his shirt, and lifts it up, all the way to his chest.

You try not to stare at his abs.

Surely there was something else he wanted you to see.

You see it.

It's a tattoo, scrawled right on his ribs, under his right chest.

It's a fairly large tattoo, and it curls around his ribs to his side.

It looks like letters, but you can't read it.

"It's pretty," you answer with a smile, hoping to ease his anxiety. "What does it say?"

"Um," he drops his shirt.

"Here's the part that's going to sound... weird."

"That's alright," you say.

"I was born with it."

Jimin lifts his eyes to your face, checking your reaction.

Your eyebrows furrow on their own.

How is that possible?

It's clearly a tattoo, the ink dancing across his skin making clean, dark lines, crisp on the edges.

It's too patterned, too much like letters, too purposeful to be a birthmark.

You don't say anything, because he already warned you it would be hard to believe.

But a tiny part of you is thinking...

Is he ashamed of the tattoo?

Is that why he's lying?

Maybe it says something not so nice.

"I know, it looks like a tattoo. It basically is. But I was born with it."

Jimin shakes his head.

"It's... we... all the men in my family are born with it."

All the men in your family are born with "birthmarks" that look like a long word.

You keep your face blank.

"It is faint when you're young, and it darkens by the time you're 15."

He sighs.

"My dad has it, my brother has it... we just... we have it. And it's..."

He runs a hand through his hair, frustrated.

"It's like... a deal, okay? It's a mark, like a one-time deal.

If we... find someone...

... the mark unscrambles and turns into her name."

I super nervous as it's different from before and brand new.

I thought about it for a REALLY long time, playing out all different sorts of options but in the end this is the one I chose for Jimin's bond.
