Chapter Nineteen

" Come. " , Shaahid held his hand forward to Sakina.

The rain was in full swings now, and they both looked like wet crows.

She kept sitting and fluttering her eyelids.
" Go away. This feels good. " , she grinned.

Shaahid chuckled and stepped back.

And looked up at the sky....shouting to himself..

" Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,

And sorry I could not travel both

And be one traveler, long I stood

And looked down one as far as I could

To where it bent in the undergrowth; "

Sakina stared at him, squeezing her brows.

He turned to her, and like a pro, recited,

"Then took the other, as just as fair,

And having perhaps the better claim,

Because it was grassy and wanted wear;

Though as for that the passing there

Had worn them really about the same, "

Sakina now slowly got up herself. Her ankle didn't hurt much, surprisingly.

She walked towards him.
He shook off the water constantly pouring on his wavy hair.

And went on, stepping from one puddle to the next.

"And both that morning equally lay

In leaves no step had trodden black.

Oh, I kept the first for another day!

Yet knowing how way leads on to way,

I doubted if I should ever come back."

He jumped in a puddle, splashing water onto Sakina standing in front.

She guarded with her hands.

And then took over, herself....

"I shall be telling this with a sigh

Somewhere ages and ages hence:

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I..

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference. "
, she ended, thoughtfully.

A smile crept on his lips.
She did not smile though. Rather she concentrated on following the puddle trails, and getting dirty and dirtier.

He watched the child in her return, silently.

Until she spoke,
" The Road Not Taken.... by Robert Frost was one of my most favorite poems in school. "

" Yeah, mine as well.

But did you get the meaning it conveys? "

She stopped, and stared at him.

He smiled wider.

" The path that we choose, decides our future, our destination. And if we make a wrong choice once in life, there's no going back.

Hence, choose wisely.
Think a thousand times before letting go of your previous choices as well. Think a million times before accepting newer ones, because you might want to return to your old self one day, but there won't be any getting back. "
