"Sigurado ka bang walang masakit sayo?" Andrius asked her while tending her wounds on her knees.
Umiling si Gretel as he watches him clean her wound. Binuhat siya ni Andrius kanina paupo sa couch bago ito pumanhik sa kwarto para kumuha ng first aid kit.
"Don't worry I'll take care of you from now on." He held her face and slightly brush her under eyes. Namumugto at namumula pa rin ang mga ito dahil sa sobrang pag-iyak.
He sat besides her at inayos ang first aid kit sa ilalim ng center table.
"Do you want to eat anything?"
"No, just stay here." Gretel said as she leaned on his shoulder. Andrius wrapped his arms around her and kissed the top of her head.
"I'll take you to our room. Mukhang pagod ka."
She slowly nodded as she wrap her arms around his nape. He carried her carefully, nakapikit si Gretel habang nakadantay ang ulo sa dibdib ni Andrius. Maingat niyang ibinaba si Gretel sa kama at inayos ang pagkakahiga nito.
"Rest well." He whispered as he kissed her forehead. Gretel took his hand as she opens her eyes to look at him.
"Stay here."
"I will." He smiled. "Just tell me anything you wanna eat later at magpapabili ako."
"No, I'm tired. I wanna sleep. Bukas na lang tayo kumain."
"Hindi pwede baby, hindi ka pa nagdinner---" Natigilan si Andrius ng mapansin ang panunubig ng mga mata ni Gretel. He immediately cupped her face and checked on her.
"Why? May masakit ba sayo?" Aligagang tanong nito.
"You are not listening to me. I said ayokong kumain. Gusto ko lang matulog na kasama ka! Is it that hard to understand?" Gretel said irritated.
Nanlaki ang mga mata ni Andrius ng biglang tumalikod sa kanya si Gretel at nagtalukbong ng kumot, which is very new to him dahil hindi naman mabilis magtampo ang asawa niya.
He held her shoulder and laid besides her.
"Okay, I'm sorry. Matutulog na tayo." He sighed. Hindi rin nagtagal ay rinig na niya ang banayad na paghinga ng asawa. He can't help but smile it feels like it's been so long since the last time he held her in his arms.
Almost a month felt longer than those 25 years away from her.
"I love you." He whispered to her.
