Newt paced the room impatiently, his former professor watching him thoughtfully. He was furious. His wife had been missing for over two months and Dumbledore still wouldn't let him do anything about it. He had been cooped up in his former school the whole time to 'recover' though he knew it was just Dumbledore's excuse to keep an eye on him.

"Sit down, Newt."

Newt stopped pacing to glare at the man.

"I can't talk to you when you're moving about like that."

Newt let out a frustrated sigh but he moved to one of the seats across from Dumbledore's desk and dropped into it. He buried his face in his hands.

"I understand how you must be feeling . . ." Dumbledore started.

Newt's head snapped up. "No, you don't." he spat. "How could you? Tina, my Tina, is missing and you're asking me to just sit here and do nothing. Please let me go find her," he begged.

"You know why I can't let you go," Dumbledore said gently. "If either one of us went we'd just be doing exactly what Grindelwald wants and the chances of Tina getting hurt increase dramatically." He paused. "Please trust me. Aster is a very capable Auror and he's doing everything he can to help."

"But we don't even know if she's still alive," Newt cried, burying his face in his hands again. A shaky sob escaped his lips.

"She's still alive," Dumbledore promised.

"But how can we be sure?" Newt said. "You told me that Aster can't risk sending a letter."

"He can't. But he's getting help from someone whom Grindelwald still trusts."

Newt looked up slowly. "What?"

Dumbledore continued. "A letter arrived yesterday in which she assured me that Tina is safe and sound."

"Safe," Newt muttered. How can she be safe when she's Grindelwald's prisoner? He shook the thought from his mind.

"Can I see the letter?" he asked.

Dumbledore shook his head. "I think not." Newt opened his mouth to protest so he pressed on. "Perhaps tomorrow but it's late now. I suggest you go to bed. Get some sleep. I'm sure you'll feel better in the morning."

Realizing it was pointless to argue, Newt let out a shaky breath and got to his feet.

"Good night," he mumbled.

"Good night, Newt."

Newt left the room and made his way along the hall until he came to his room. He had been given one of the empty professor's rooms to stay in while he was at Hogwarts.

The room wasn't very big. Sections of the stone walls were covered in beautifully woven tapestries. A fireplace sat in one wall, a warm flame springing to life went he entered the room. A couch sat in front of the fireplace with a small table beside it. A large, soft rug covered most of the floor.

The one thing Newt didn't like about the room was the bed. It was incredibly warm and soft but it was big. He hated sleeping in such a big bed by himself. It just reminded him that his wife was missing and might never be there again.

Closing the door behind him, he changed into his pajamas and crawled into bed. Hugging his pillow tightly, he cried himself to sleep.

Tina was exhausted. She had been flying all night and most of the day for the last three nights. She had avoided flying over large bodies of water which had made it take a bit longer than it would have. However, she hadn't been able to avoid flying across the English Channel. The good thing was that it meant she was in England. She was almost there.
