All the color drained from Chara's face as the room grew silent. As Asgore and Asriel placed their hands on Chara's shoulders, Max just stared in disbelief.
Max: so..(YN) might..die?
Alphys: Y-Yes... Unless we can use a greater s-source of DETERMINATION, I d-don't think-
Asgore:...and what of the other human SOULS?
We all looked to Asgore, who held his head down and sighed softly.
Asgore: We already don't have enough to go back to the surface from the last time you all used them. So why not use them all?
Alphys:...A-Alright.. I-I'll contact Sans and h-have him come over..
Alphys reached for the phone and started to call Sans as Max came to comfort me as I felt my SOUL slowly start to feel better.
Max: Are you okay..?
(YN): just..as fine as I can be.. I'm just glad that they came up with a...sort of *SOULution* for me and..Chara
Max saw through my desperate attempt at humor and hugged me gently. I peered over his shoulder and saw Chara standing behind him. I poked Max's shoulder and he turned and let me go, keeping his hand on my shoulder.
Chara:...I'm..sorry (YN)..
(YN): we have a solution.. Don't stress i-
I was cut off as Chara pulled me into a tight embrace. She buried her face into my shoulder as i felt a slight tingle in my chest. I slowly returned the hug and she just wiped her eyes.
Chara:...I'm just..worried..
(YN): well..so am I. But if anything happens, I.. I want you to keep the DETERMINATION.
Chara looks at me with a surprised expression as she pulls away slightly, forcing both of us to come to the realization of both of our chests glowing a bright white. Everyone stared as the glow only seemed to grow stronger by the moment. Once Alphys ended the call with Sans, she turned to us and adjusted her glasses.
Alphys: Y-Yea.. If y-you two stay near e-each other, your SOULS w-wont be as s-strained.. B-But we still need to give (YN) m-more DETERMINATION so h-he can survive..
Max and I nodded as Alphys guided me and Chara to the DT Extractor in another room, Chara and Max holding my hand as we entered.
