The field of wildflowers swayed gently in the breeze, their colors so vibrant against the somber gray of a gravestone nearby.
On the horizon, I could see the sun descending and casting a golden hue all over the serene landscape. Standing atop the hill lies a simple grave marked by a weathered stone, adorned with my sister's name.
"I wish you could see what I am seeing now Eva," I murmured softly while fabricating her serene smile that used to heal my storming heart. "I hope you can see me now. I'm... trying my best."
Silence greeted me, only shattered by the rustling of leaves and the far-away cries of birds. Nonetheless, in my imagination, her voice was almost audible, reassuring and warm.
"But don't worry about me," I continued, blinking away the tears. "Now I'm no longer alone, because Lily is with me and..."
A huffing voice interrupted my thoughts, drawing my gaze towards the bush at the fringes of the forest. A little girl burst forth, her dress stained with dirt and her face flushed with anxiety as she ran uphill.
"Master!! They're chasing Lily!" she gasped, clutching berries in her tiny hand and eyes wide with concern.
I couldn't help but chuckle softly at her frantic demeanor. The relief that came over me was palpable. "Did you get a lot?" I asked gently as I walked towards her.
As if the danger had slipped her mind, she smiled widely. "Lily picked tons of them! These will make Master so fat! Praise Lily, Master!" she exclaimed with infectious enthusiasm.
Without warning, a chilling shriek pierced the air. Shadowy figures emerged from the depths of the forest, their malevolent intentions could be felt even from a distance. Taking a shelter behind me, the little girl began to tremble due to fear and exhaustion.
My heart was filled with a mix of relief and determination as I sighed loudly. "<Eclipse>," I commanded quietly, my voice resonating with resolve.
In an instant, the girl shimmered with a brilliant light, transforming into a one-handed longsword that I wielded effortlessly. The monsters shrieked in anger, attempting to lunge at me with gnashing teeth and razor sharp limbs
The monsters lunged forward, their grotesque forms twisted by darkness and pure malice. Without any pause, I acted and dodged their attacks with practiced ease. With each swing of the sword, darkness dispersed, leaving nothing but fading echoes of their malevolence.
When the last creature crumbled to dust, I glanced down at the sword, now returned to its innocent form. "Rest assured, Eva," I whispered, the words promising to stay with me for the rest of my life, ringing in my ears. "I'll purge this unfair yet beautiful world of evil, just like the hero you aspired me to be.
Again, the field of flowers swayed rustled in the gentle breeze and the color of the flowers brighter now in the waning sunlight. From a far, I could see my companions waving toward me.
"Hey, it's time to go, pal!" one of them shouted in a joyful manner.
The sun dipped lower, and the sun was slowly sinking in the sky; the shadows of trees and flowers became longer. In that fleeting moment of tranquility, I felt a renewed sense of purpose and strength.
The journey ahead would be arduous, but I would not falter.
For Eva, for Lily, and for myself—I would forge ahead, becoming a beacon of hope in a world threatened by darkness.
