Roses and Chocolates

Holding myself together,
I desperately attempt to shake lose.
You talk to me of roses and chocolates
To sweeten my evening.

On replay in my mind is a single thought,
Frozen in place like my feet on the ground.
I dream of feasts and of a waltz we never danced
While you talk to me of walks under a full moon.

Moments pass us by while
Oblivious, we stare into each other's eyes.
Desperate for your touch I keep on dreaming
Ignoring reality in front of me,

Frightened of the reflection in the frosty mirror,
I persist in holding myself together
While you talk to me of roses and chocolates and walks under the moon,
As I stare into the memory I so long to preserve.
