Reach Out

Reaching out across a void,
Holding each other by the hand,
Building a bridge, each day getting closer
Each day nearer to holding each other.

Reading a little further into those pages,
Resisting the urge to skip to the last chapter.
Would we ruin it all?
Or would it be a happily ever after?

I smile remembering the first words
Of this newborn adventure
Which swept me off my feet and
Raised me to cloud nine.

As grain by grain the sand flows,
You slowly complete the picture.
Will you be the last puzzle piece?

Like a shadow at my side you walk by me,
Whispering softly into the wind.
While another book has been opened
And our pages still go by.

Torn between a whirlwind romance and a tug of war,
I try to pull onto the rope
Without being swept away once more,
Only to realise I've always dreamt of soaring the skies.

Reaching out across a void,
Losing sight of the horizon but not of the sunset,
Keep building the bridge, keep getting closer
Until one day we'll be holding each other.
