Angel on my shoulder

Building a dream, a future of hope,
The facade of a life you weren't living.
Chasing the light at the end of the tunnel,
Believing in hope, ignoring the damage.

The rope burns healed, eventually
While scars faded although embedded in your skin,
For new hands to feel and cure
Once alone was no more

Once alone meant whole
Once you'd listened to the angel on your shoulder
Whispering it's okay to be broken
It's okay to feel despair

Feel the rope burns he said,
You flew too close to the sun
But it's okay, I'm here.
