Sasuke x Reader Sequel

Sage Mode

(Sorry, I'm skipping over the event with Sora (the kid with Kurama's chakra sealed in him) and Asuma's death, and Naruto's training to perfect his rasen shuriken. Sorry if some of you were looking forward to it!)

I have been away on a mission for about 2 and a half months. I was working with some senior ninjas, checking out each of Orochimaru's old hideouts to see if anything was similar to them so that we could try figure out where his new one or current one could possibly be.

I returned to the village to deliver our findings to the Hokage. The others I was with had also returned but soon after were given other missions, so I was left to deliver the information. When I reached her office, she allowed me in, and I gave her the mess of papers in my arms. "Is there.. any news?" I asked.

"Right, you wouldn't know.." she sighed. "We almost had another nine tailed incident, it wasn't Naruto, don't worry." she quickly added and I nodded. "There was an incident with 2 Akatsuki members.... Asuma was killed as a result." she said and I nodded processing the information. "And there is a rumor... that Sauske has killed Orochimaru. And that he is possibly gathering allies from Orochimaru's old hideouts." she said.

"He killed the snake?" I asked and she nodded.

"I can't believe he would be killed so easily, but he must've been weak with his deteriorating body." I said thinking on the rumor. "There's a good chance it is true." I said looking at her and she nodded.

"I haven't yet told Naruto. I think it would be best to not mention this to anyone who isn't concerned." she said and I nodded.

"I'll take my leave then." I said bowing and she nodded and dismissed me. I decided to go pay my respects to Asuma-san.

Before visiting him, I bought some flowers and went to find his grave. I found it at the cemetery and gingerly placed down the flowers and offered a few prayers.

I was walking around aimlessly, when Kakashi decided to randomly join me on my walk. "Have you heard the rumor about Sasuke?" He asked and I nodded.

"Lady Tsunade just told me." I said. "You believe it?" I asked and he nodded. "It doesn't seem impossible." I said.

"I am aware of the past relationship with you and Sasuke. If he was to ask you to join him, would you?" he asked.

I shrugged. "I know what he is doing is wrong, but I can't blame him for wanting revenge. On the other hand, I know Itachi, and I believe in him. I know he did what he did for a reason..." I said looking at my hands.

He left after a while since he had "work" to catch up on. I went to the training grounds and summoned my wolf. "Hello, Kenta." I smiled up at him. He got huge, like a giant, almost as big as Kurama. He lay down and stared at me.

"It's been so long since you've summoned me. I was beginning to think you'd have forgotten about me." he said his tail swishing from side to side.

"Sorry." I smiled and booped his nose. I jumped up and landed on his nose and looked into his left eye. "I was wondering something." I said.

"What is it?" He asked.

"I know that most animal summons, like the frog, and the snakes have a sage mode they sometimes teach their summoners. Does your kind have something similar?" I asked.

"Yes, but since we are one of the more rare summons, our sage mode grants you a technique that you can only use in sage mode." he said.

"What do you mean?" he asked.

"Our sage mode, grants the user something similar to mind reading. You can hear thoughts from your opponents or allies, only if you are touching them or have a chakra string connected to them. However, you are unable to transmit your thought to other people. If you were an Uchiha and had the sharinggan, then you wouldn't have to physically touch them. As long as you see them, you'd be able to read their thoughts, fighting strategy, things like that." he explained. "Like most Sage modes, your senses will be enhanced, same for you. Your ability to see, especially at night, your smell and hearing would also be dramatically enhanced. Our sage mode also lasts longer than most others since stamina is one of our kinds main traits." he said.

"So basically... I'd technically read minds. Have enhanced smell, vision, night vision, hearing, and stamina. Plus all the things that usually come with Sage mode." I said and he nodded.

"Are you interested in learning?" he asked.

"Definitely." I smiled.

"Alright. When you are ready, summon me again and we'll begin your training." Kenta said standing up and dipped his nose down and I slid off and fell on the ground on my butt. Kenta disappeared in a giant puff of smoke.
