After checking in on Seymone, who just wanted to relax inside the mansion. We left to see the Sir Joram.

When we arrived and was shown at the throne room; I saw the King in his formal attire. He looked fine but I saw a hint of sadness in them.

I froze when I saw the man he was talking to.

It was Kassim, dressed handsomely in an impeccable black suit. He saw me
and Leone enter the throne and his smile turned mocking when he stared at our hands which were linked together.

"What is he doing here father?" Leone's voice rumbled menacingly and I pulled at him, feeling his simmering anger in my head.

"Leone." I tugged at his sleeve and he pulled me closer to him.

"It seems like Kassim also had a reason why he arrived as the representative for Danati." Joram said and handed a document to Leone.

He let go of my hand and took the document; I watched as his expression turned surprised and then livid with silent rage.

" This is....a marriage contract. " he said in a tight voice." You agreed to marry me to a Danati princess two year ago and now the Sheikh is demanding that I make an engagement official between for one of his 5 daughters?"

The news made my eyes go wide, something pierced my heart when he said those words but I tried to keep it in.

Kassim's cool voice disrupted the building tension.

" Technically, the agreement was originally for Uncle. His father signed a binding marriage contract for him to marry another princess when your mother died but that was never fulfilled. Old agreements like these can be passed down to the next son and that means you, cousin. "

Memphis began to growl softly by Joram's side. My cousin paled visibly at the gaping maw of the huge cat and took a step backward unconsciously, much to my amusement before I became serious again.

"I am officially engaged to Sarina; by our law, this agreement is therefore null and void." Leone countered.

"I support my son on this one Kassim, you may inform your father that the agreement will have to be passed on to the next generation." Joram's voice broke no argument and was final.

I visibly relaxed as Leone put an arm around my waist. Truth be told; imagining Leone marrying someone else was enough to put a vice around my heart.

But from the looks of it, Kassim was far from done.

"I knew my dear cousin would refuse so I offered to come here at my father's behest and marry an Illyrian royalty to fulfill the agreement." he murmured while looking at me, wearing a sphinx-like grin.

I felt like something was still wrong about this whole scenario.

"And who do you have in mind?" Joram asked cautiously.

"Not a lot of females were born in this generation and Catherine is not really someone I could marry without complications.... Ah, yes." he looked at Leone. "Don't you have another sister? An illegitimate one?"

No. This was what he was aiming for.

But.... It cannot be just that.

However, I saw Leone grit his teeth as he suddenly left me to approach his cousin, his aura was more intense than usual.

"Leave Seymone out of this. She has not acknowledged her status as a princess of this country." he glared at his cousin until their faces were close to each other.
