She couldn't help but feel disappointed when he left. She knew his duties as alpha were important. It was his job. But she had thought they could have just one night. One night to talk. To be together uninterrupted. But that didn't happen. She wanted to tell him all about what she learned from the Moon Goddess. She would have to wait. So until she was able to see him again, she needed a distraction. Something to help keep her mind away from him. So she decided she would go to the clinic and see about getting a schedule in place for her to work. She put on a pair of sandals and headed out across the compound toward the clinic. But half way there she stopped.
"Run. Run as fast as you can. Get inside."
She took off at a run to the clinic. She barged in and slammed the door while locking it. Ari came running and grabbed her shoulders
"Vampires. Outside the compound. Alert the warriors."
"Vampires..." She breathed. "Outside the compound. Alert the warriors."
Ari jumped into action. She pressed a button on the desk and a loud roaring siren began sounding. Sam came rushing out and locked down the windows. But she was frozen. She needed Rage. She wanted him. She needed to feel safe. Ari grabbed her hand and pushed her to the floor behind the desk.
"Stay down." She growled joining her as did Sam. "Don't worry this is protocol."
Joy simply nodded. Vampires? Had they found the compound? How had they found them? Where was Rage? Was he alright? Was he fighting? She had so many worries. What had happened? How had she heard that voice? It was different than she had ever heard before. She felt panic beginning to rise. She needed to get out of there and check I'm Rage
"Stay calm. Stay put. Everything is okay. I won't let anything happen. Stay where you are."
Who was talking in her head? It didn't sound like the Moon Goddess. It sounded manly. It was starting to freak her out. It was making her think she was crazy. Was this because she was special? Was this a new power? She wanted out. A part of her wanted a fight. She wanted to help the warriors fight. She felt as if it was her responsibility. She felt left out by not fighting.
"No fighting today. Everything is under control. Tell Ari to cancel the alarm."
Joy frowned and sighed. "Cancel the alarm."
Ari hit the same button as before and the siren stopped. Ari and Sam disappeared down the hall to check on patients. Joy just sat there. Why can she hear voices in her head? Who is doing it? Why did she feel disappointed in not being able to fight? She wanted Rage. She wanted to check he was safe. She needed to know. She slowly stood and walked to the door. She unlocked it and opened it. She stepped out onto the porch and headed down the steps.
"Joy." She heard Ari call.
Joy turned around, "Ari."
"Come inside please. I need to talk to you." Ari said smoothly.
"Can it wait? I need to check on Rage." She told Ari.
"He's fine. I know he is. The alarm was lifted. If he wasn't the alarm would still be sounding."
Joy sighed and went back into the cabin. Ari motioned her to a chair in the waiting area. Joy tried to hide her irritation.
"I can't offer anywhere near what the hospital was paying you, but I still want you on my team." Ari told her. "Pay will be minimal but the hours will be steady."
"I'll take it. I actually came here to tell you." Joy informed her. "I came to get a schedule in place."
Ari smiled. "Perfect because I made a mock one just to show you how the hours would work. But I actually like it. Here it is." Ari handed joy a paper. "The schedule starts tomorrow. And goes for two weeks. You will be on call when you are off, in case any big injuries occur."
"Thank you." Joy said softly. "I'll be here tomorrow then."
"Yes, tomorrow morning. I have a prenatal appointment in the morning, and I want you to see how we do things. It's a bit different than human hospitals." Ari explained.
Joy nodded. "I'll be here "
Ari beamed at her. Joy couldn't help but smile too. She had a job to do now. She was working with patients again. She stood up and headed for the door.
"He should be in the office. First cabin at the end if this row. If he wasn't out scouting then that's where he is. But be careful. If the Vampires really did find us, I doubt they are gone." Ari warned her. "Just be very careful."
"I will." Joy said.
She exited the clinic and followed the row down to the cabin she could only assume was the office. It was a small cabin, with a small picture window in the front. Lights were on and she could see Rage inside, pacing. She carefully walked up the steps and was about to grab the handle when something grabbed her by the arm. She got out a short scream before a cold hand was placed over her mouth. She began to kick and claw at the person behind her. She didn't let herself panic. She fought and clawed. She didn't stop. She watched as the office cabin got further.
"Call for Rage."
Rage! I need you. Help me.
She called out in her mind. She prayed that it worked.

Rage! I need you. Help me.
The panicked voice of Joy popped into his head. He stopped pacing and raced out the door. He smelled her fear. He raced after her scent. He had to catch her.
Joy which way did you go?
He kept following her scent while waiting for her response. He sent out the signal for trouble. Before he knew it, the warriors had joined him and the alarm was sounding again. He couldn't stop running. They were getting further and further away from the compound. All of a sudden her scent disappeared. He stopped in his tracks.
Joy? Can you hear me?
He waited a few beats. "I can't connect with her. I need to know who was on watch?"
"It was Max and Aimes. You allotted them watch tonight." Passion informed him.
"I want them brought to my office. I need to know who the hell took Joy. I need to know if it was a vampire or not."
Raven stepped forward. "It was a wolf. The scent seems familiar but I can't place it."
"A wolf. That would explain why I didn't smell a vampire. I still want Max and Aimes to report to the office. We need to figure out who the hell took Joy." He growled before racing back to the compound.
His only thought was how had someone taken Joy? Why would someone take Joy? More importantly why would a wolf? Had the leak in Blaines pack come along with him?
"I want all Blaines men to report to the office as well. Send Blaine too. Maybe one of his men went rogue?" He explained. "Someone knows what happened."
He raced to the office and found Blaine already there. Blaine looked at him confused when he entered. Rage didn't pay him any attention as he went to the computer and pulled up the outdoor security feed. He hoped the cameras he had installed would tell him who it was that took her. But all he saw was static. He frowned as Passion came in with Max and Aimes.
"Passion go check the outside security cameras please? All I'm getting is static." He said as Passion nodded and left. He turned his attention back to the new warriors. "Were you two on watch?" They both nodded. "What exactly were you watching?"
"The... The perimeter, sir." Max stuttered. "We were watching the perimeter."
"Both of you?" They both nodded. "I find that hard to believe. You see, someone came into the compound and kidnapped my mate. If you were in fact watching like you should have been, they wouldn't have gotten in or gotten away. So again I ask, were you watching the perimeter?"
They both bowed their heads. "No... No, sir. We were visiting with the female guests. They had asked us a few questions about the compound and we answered their questions." Aimes spoke softly.
"You were told to watch the perimeter, not chat up the ladies. Also, we dont give information out about our compound. Only myself and Passion give out information to trusted sources." Rage began to get angry. "What exactly did you tell them?"
That... That we use security cameras around the perimeter to aid the watch crew a form of back up. Also, about how we... We have..." Aimes began.
Max jumped in. "How we have trails coming in at various parts of the compound to help our warriors if there were to be trouble. We told them the one that comes out right in front of the office is the one least used."
Rage began to shake, "Did you catch these ladies names?"
"Charity and Roe." Max told him as he lowered his head, "We are deeply sorry, sir. We assumed that because they were with alpha Blaine, they were safe."
"You assumed! Did you know Blaine has a leak? Someone in Blaines pack is feeding the vampires information. It could have been one of them." He hollered. "You put our entire pack in danger. You both are off perimeter duties. You are both suspended, until further notice. Get out of my sight."
